If we bury our emotions and choose to remain silent, then the pain will linger, possibly fester and grow. Life offers many opportunities and choices for connecting with other people. As this holiday season comes into view, allow yourself time to embrace moments that provide the necessary space to realize your blessings. A life in balance grants us time for our commitments, time for pleasures, and time alone to ponder and reflect upon this life that we live. This Thanksgiving, take some time to count your blessings and experience the beauty of gratitude. As you reflect upon your past and celebrate today, try to silently say “thank you” for the relationships and experiences that have brought you to this new day. May you know the love of family and the supple bonds of genuine friendship as you take pleasure in the wonder and beauty of shared moments in time. May this Thanksgiving bring you closer to the people that you care about and fill your heart with tenderness and tranquility. With Love, Marian 2017 NEWSLETTER

As the cooler temperatures of autumn begin to settle in around us, we tend to gather more with family and friends within the secure warmth and comfort of our homes. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, family get-togethers tend to highlight and boldly expose all of the pleasures, expectations, disappointments, and history that have become part of the fabric of our lives. As November quietly slips into place allow an attitude of gratitude to usher us into a more accepting, embracing and gentler space. • Director’s Message

Hello Everyone, Winter is fast approaching and here at SNAP we are preparing for the harsh winter days by inviting you enjoy the comforts of many exciting events we have planned for the month of November. Please join us as we celebrate Native American Heritage for our monthly diversity program. You will have the opportunity to learn more about Native American history as well as taste foods that are inspired by the culture. Additionally, our annual Thanksgiving Feast will be one of the best as we have musical entertainment in addition to a traditional dinner. We will (as always) have a selection of delectable desserts. By now, I am sure you are familiar with all the exciting activities we have to offer here at SNAP but please do not forget we are always looking for new and exciting things to do here so if you think it, we will try to make it happen. Please feel free as always to come to me with your suggestions. As our program continues to grow so does our opportunities.

    All the Best, Nina!

At the meeting held on 10/16, we discussed suggestions for trips and the popularity of trips taken. Anyone who has suggestions for new outings we have not yet gone on, please speak with Nina or Diana and they will look into making them happen. Rochelle will be leaving SNAP for a new job. We all wish Rochelle the best of luck in her new venture. The bulletin will now be signed for monthly so that members don’t take more than one copy. We should not run out of bulletins in the middle of the month. There are so many classes offered during the mornings and afternoons so we suggest members searching the bulletin look into what is already available. The classes are fun and you can make new friends so try it, you’ll like it. The current board was re-elected at the meeting and Carol Miller will remain Secretary and Carole Vahey remain as President for the next two years. This will be the last term served by the current board. In late 2019 a new board will be elected. Congratulations to Stanley Starr and Tina on their election to the board. Their term will start at the Open Board Meeting on November 20th. Thanks to George, Sybil, Andrea, Elsie, Edie and Nancy for their help during the recent voting. We are giving thought to reinstitution of the column for congratulations and get well messages in the bulletin. For a two-dollar donation you can let your friends know you care. We also had a suggestion for a For Sale ad in that column as well. Please see Nina if you are interested in any of the above messages. Thank you for helping by cleaning up after yourselves. There is no reason for trays to be left on the table or trash on the floors. We should be responsible for our own mess in the dining room, rest rooms and classrooms. Thank you for the continued support of the Advisory Board.

Thank you all Carole Vahey, President
