The Spartan Flight Campus is located approximately twenty miles southwest of the Main Campus and located at 123 Cessna Drive in Tulsa, OK at the Richard L. Jones airport which is a tower controlled airport including dual runways, crosswind and instrument landing approach capabilities. The Spartan Flight Campus maintains a fleet of approximately forty-one aircraft including Cessna 152s, 172s, 172RGs, Piper Seminoles, a Frasca flight simulator, and a full motion Redbird Advance Aviation Training Device. The Spartan Flight Campus contains 8 classrooms for ground school instruction, flight dispatch, a book and equipment store, flight library, financial aid, student records and graduate career services offices. The Flight Campus also hosts a LaserGrade testing center allowing students computer testing for same-day results for their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written examinations.

Spartan’s Main Campus located at 8820 E. Pine Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma contains Spartan’s core electronics program where avionics students obtain component-level troubleshooting skills through a 50% hands-on curriculum working with industry-current equipment and training aids. The Main Campus also houses the general education classes needed to complete a Spartan associate degree program and the upper-level courses needed for those students desiring to complete a Bachelor of Science degree. Spartan’s Main Campus includes avionics labs for avionics associate degree students, a welding shop for aviation maintenance students, library, book and equipment store, student services, admissions, financial aid, student records, student accounts and administrative offices.

The North Campus contains specialty classrooms, training labs and industry-current equipment for aviation maintenance and nondestructive testing. The North Campus includes twenty-four fixed wing and one rotary aircraft, twenty-one turbine jet engines, twenty-six reciprocating aircraft engines, an avionics communication shop, avionics radar shop, a Boeing 727-100 training cockpit, a complete Boeing 727-200, and nondestructive testing equipment including magnetic particle, liquid dye penetrate, ultrasound, eddy current and radiography.

The North Campus contains a cafeteria and Graduate Career Services where on-campus interviewing and recruiting takes place.

Spartan operates three campuses with over 247,000 square feet of training facilities, classrooms and administrative space located on two Tulsa area airports.

At one time or another almost every child has dreamed of flying. Whether it was soaring through the air like Superman, flying a jet fighter like Top-Gun or being a professional airline pilot. After taking their first flight in a commercial airliner, flying has fascinated almost everyone. At Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, dreams of flying become a reality every day.

Spartan’s flight program can take you from your first flight to your first career as a professional pilot.

Beginning with a private pilot license and continuing with a commercial pilot license with instrument, multiengine, certified flight instructor, and certified flight instructor instrument rating, Spartan flight graduates are prepared to embark on an exciting and rewarding career as commercial pilots. Many graduates continue at Spartan as flight instructors allowing them to build flight experience and obtain their bachelor’s degree simultaneously.

Students choose Spartan because flying comes first. At Spartan you’ll begin your flight ground school and flight training immediately and complete your associate degree general education classes while you build your flight hours throughout the program. AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY

A career in aviation maintenance offers an exciting and rewarding career and income potential. Every aircraft used for hire must undergo inspection, maintenance and repairs (on a regular basis) by certified Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), mechanics and technicians. To become a certified FAA mechanic, students must complete a minimum of 1900 training hours or experience and pass written, oral and practical FAA exams.

Spartan’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program includes a 50% hands-on curriculum with approximately two hundred-fifty hands-on projects and 2,160 training hours to not only meet FAA requirements but exceed them. Aviation maintenance students will complete training including hydraulics and pneumatics, ignition and electrical systems, fuel systems, pressurization, aircraft welding, reciprocating, turbine-prop and jet engines and much more. Those who enjoy working hands-on in a clean environment with great income and career opportunities choose aviation maintenance technology.

Many industries such as auto and diesel, auto and boat racing and heavy-equipment desire the quality detail-oriented skills possessed by certified aviation maintenance mechanics. This desire opens the opportunities for aviation maintenance technicians to aviation and beyond.

FedEx Boeing 727 donation provides Spartan students with industry-current large transport training education and experience needed to help propel them in their career. The donation allows Spartan to continue over 85 years leading the industry in aviation training.

Students in the technician training programs can take advantage of the AAR-Spartan

Bridge Program, a partnership the school maintains with AAR Aircraft Services, which reimburses up to $10,500 of tuition expenses for students who commit to work for the company for three years after they graduate.

As the navigation and communication systems on the ground and aboard aircraft become more and more sophisticated so does the need for highly trained avionics technicians. Avionics technicians are trained to troubleshoot, inspect and repair the numerous electronic systems required to safely and efficiently fly today’s aircraft.

Spartan’s 50% hands-on curriculum including component-level troubleshooting on industry-current equipment and training aids provides graduates with great career opportunities and income potential. Spartan’s crawl, walk, run training philosophy provides students with the core basic electronics knowledge and skill required to continue into the avionics specialty program including systems such as autopilot, remote compass, instrument landing, weather radar, transponder, Global Positioning System (GPS), Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), and much more. In addition to ACCSC, Spartan’s avionics programs are accredited by NCATT. Those who enjoy computers and electronic devices choose avionics technology for a rewarding and exciting career.

AVIONICS MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY

In a world where safety and quality continues to increase in demand so does the need for highly trained nondestructive testing and quality control technicians. The industries of aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, pipeline, powerplant, construction, theme park, auto and boat racing require inspection and testing of key components without destroying the integrity or future usefulness of the component. Nondestructive testing and quality control technicians perform these tests and inspections.

Spartan’s nondestructive testing program includes 50% hands-on training on industry-current equipment to perform liquid dye penetrate, magnetic particle, ultrasound, x-ray and gamma-ray to ensure our graduates have the knowledge and skill for on-the-job performance. Graduates of the quality control program have also completed training in metrology, manufacturing processes, statistical analysis, Six Sigma, Lean, and 5S. Those who desire diversity and high employability choose nondestructive testing and quality control.

Bachelor of Science Aviation Technology ManagementTo meet the need for our graduates to complete their education with a baccalaureate degree, Spartan has developed an accelerated bachelor’s program designed specifically for Spartan graduates and working adults. The bachelor’s program allows Spartan associate degree graduates the opportunity to complete their degree in as little as 16 months. The program combines training, experience and education, allowing graduates to increase their marketability and career advancement with aviation, aerospace and other related industries.

Financial Aid & ScholarshipsFinancial aid and scholarships are available to those who qualify. Spartan’s financial aid offices assist students and their families in completing the federal financial aid applications for Federal Pell Grant and unsubsidized, subsidized and Parent PLUS Loans. It is the goal of Spartan’s financial aid department to assist students in pursuing every avenue available in locating the funding necessary to attend college. Student ServicesSpartan provides several student services to assist students in completing the education and training they desire.

Student Housing - student housing assistance is provided to aid students and their families. Students attending with family or who desire private housing will be assisted in locating suitable housing. Contact your enrollment manager for further details.

Our Residence Hall provides a safe affordable housing option for Spartan students. Students stay in well maintained apartments behind the main campus. Residence Hall includes furnished private bedrooms and shared living accommodations. Limited availability and filled on a first reserved basis.

Student Employment Assistance - most students work at least part-time while attending Spartan. To assist students in locating employment, Spartan student employment maintains a list of part-time and full-time job opportunities in the Tulsa area. The student employment office also coordinates on-campus recruiting visits, assists in resume development and advises on interviewing and job locating techniques.

Free Audit of Course for GraduatesSpartan is pleased to offer graduates a free audit of courses from which they are a graduate as long as course is currently offered by Spartan. As technology advances and industries change, graduates may find a need to upgrade skills to stay current in the workplace. Free audits can be scheduled with the Student Records department at Spartan. Audits are on a space available basis and the student must purchase the textbooks for the course. Free audits are limited to two courses in any twelve-month period.

Graduate Career ServicesGraduate success is Spartan success. That is why Spartan provides on-going graduate career services to our graduates. Prior to graduation students are required to visit the graduate career center to begin defining their career goals. Graduates are assisted with resumes, cover letters, interviewing techniques, completing online applications, e-mailing and faxing resumes. On-campus recruiting visits, company seminars, and career fairs are conducted throughout the year and students and graduates are invited to participate and attend. When you’re ready for a study break you’ll have an abundance of entertaining destinations. Choose between two amusement parks, an aquarium, a zoo, world-class museums, and live tunes at one of the city’s many music venues. Tulsa is home to professional sports including baseball, hockey, and soccer, as well as horse racing. For the outdoor enthusiast, the city’s hundreds of parks and nearby lakes offer rugged trails and prime fishing.
