Spark Plugs, belts, and accessories
Warm up: What car parts are ran by the serpentine belt?
Spark Plugs
Spark plugs create the spark necessary for the ignition of the gas.
Virtually unchanged for 120 years May need to be serviced in a vehicle between
30k-100K
Spark Plug
Unconventional Spark Plugs
E3 Plugs, Bosch Platnium, NGK Iridium Uses Different technology to enhance
performance

Unconventional Spark Plugs
My Experience with E3 Improved MPG on 03 Dodge Durango with
4.7L Did generator test- under no load a
convention plug and E3 ran for the same amount of time when fuel was cut to the carb
Under Significant load Convention plug ran for 1:07, E3 ran for 1:14
Step- 1
Find the correct spark plug socket Use ratchet and socket to remove plug from
engine block Once removed inspect for burns, gap size, and
electrode size
Step 2
Put anti-seize around the thread of the new plugs
Thread in by hand first (if possible). Otherwise thread in with socket and extension with NO ratchet attached.
Torque to specs located on All data, or user manual.
If no specs are available The plugs are to be tightened to 13 lb-ft. which is just hand tight with a short ratchet.
Step 3
Do spark plugs one at a time, so you do not confuse the wiring.
Repeat steps until all plugs have been changed
Serpentine Belt
The serpentine belt is a rubber belt driven by the crank shaft around pulleys to power the cars accessories like..
Alternator Water Pump Air conditioner Power Steering
NOTE: Accessories located on the belt do not need to be serviced but rather replaced in the event of failure
Serpentine Belt
Alternator
An alternator produces the current that keeps the battery charged
Cars carry 12v batteries While the car is running and putting a meter to
the battery a good alternator should produce between 13.5v and 14v
Alternator
Water Pump
The water pump is responsible for circulating coolant throughout your engine
Without a water pump your engine would overheat.
Water Pump
Air Conditioning
Compressor required to remove the heat from your cabin air
Has a clutch assembly and only adds stress to the system when engauged.
Air Conditioning
Power Steering Pump
Provides hydrolic pressure for rack and pinion steering system
Allows you to turn your wheel with EASE
