A.Infinitives (unconjugated verbs)- There are 3 main types of Spanish infinitive

verbs1. ending in “AR”2. ending in “ER”3. ending in “IR”

B. TYPES- Within each type (ar, er and ir) there are regular verbs,

irregular verbs and stem change verbs.

1. Regular Verb Conjugation*Verb stems- you must be able to

identify verb stems before conjugating infinitives.

Verb Stems (continued)Definition- a verb stem (also called root) is the infinitve MINUS the AR,

ER or IRExample: hablar -ar

= hablcomer -er = com

a. Regular AR conjugation

STEP 1- remove infinitive ending (AR) or anything NOT the stem

STEP 2- add needed endings

EXAMPLE= hablarhabl + ending
