Present Subjunctive 1. Take the present tense “you” form 2. Drop the “o” 3. Add the opposite ending

-ar verbs -er/-ir verbs

-e -emos -a -amos

-es -éis -as áis

-e -en -a -an

Imperfect Subjunctive

1. Drop the –ron from the ellos form of the preterite. 2. Add the following endings

-ra ´-ramos

-ras -rais

-ra -ran

** Note that the nosotros form has a written accent on the last vowel of the stem. ex. habláramos escribieron escribiéramos

If a verb is irregular in the ellos/ellas/Uds. of preterite, like ir (fueron), it will also be irregular in the imperfect subjunctive (fuera). Present Perfect

• The present perfect is the present tense of haber (have) plus the past participle of the verb.

• The past participle in Spanish is formed by dropping the –ar, -er, or –ir of the infinitive and adding –ado to an –ar verb or -ido to an –er or –er verb
