Dear Parents,

Monday October 22rd marks the start of Red Ribbon Week. This is an exciting week

for students as they do creative activities to promote the end of bullying, drug use,

and bring awareness to the destruction of drugs and other substances. I have creat-

ed a breakdown of Red Ribbon Week and the daily activities! I am so excited for this

week and I hope the kids are too!

Monday, October 22rd

This day will consist of taking the Drug Free Oath and signing the Drug Free Banner.

The banner is the guidance office door. Children will sign my door as they pledge to

be drug free. Ribbons will be passed out to the students to kick off Red Ribbon Week!

Tuesday, October 23th

On this day everyone is encouraged to wear red as a commitment to raise awareness

of the killing and destruction caused by drugs. Students are encouraged to wear red

polos on this day.

Wednesday, October 24th

It’s tourist day! To match this year’s national theme “Life’s Your Journey. Travel Drug

Free.” Today is a day to pull out your best tourist gear for this out of uniform day.

Please check the student handbook dress code for any questions. If you do not have

any tourist gear please send your students to school in uniform.

Thursday, October 25th

Let’s “Sock it to Drugs”! It’s crazy sock day for both students and teachers! This also

allows us to “mix things up” and make new friends! Challenge your kids to sit with

someone new at lunch or get to know someone in their class they may not know as

well! Due to 7:30 mass, 5th and 6th grade are asked to bring their socks to school to

change into after mass.

Friday, October 26th

To wrap up Red Ribbon Week, Officer Boomer will be coming to talk to the kids! I will

be giving homeroom teachers anti-bullying arm bands to pass out to the students.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me. I hope your child has

fun next week bringing awareness to this great cause!

Box of Joy is Coming!

American Heritage Girls AL7361 with the generous support of Holy Spirit Catholic Church is becoming a drop off

center for our Box of Joy Service Project.

What is Box of Joy (BOJ)?

BOJ is a service project where families, groups, and individuals fill shoe boxes with necessities, toys, etc for Cath-

olic children in third world countries.

What do I include in my box?

This is a link from Cross Catholic Outreach about what you can and can’t include: http://www.crosscatholic.org/

uploads/BOJ-2017-Gift-Ideas.pdf. Most importantly, your box will need a

shipping label: http://crosscatholic.org/howtosendjoy

You can purchase that at the aforementioned link. You will need to put this in your box or put $9 for shipping

with your box.

Boxes are due November 12. You can contact Marnie Baldwin or Angie Gilchrist at Boxof-
