6 Space Management Reference Data Guide

  • This document is a reference data guide for the Intergraph SmartTM 3D Space Management task. The purpose of this document is to describe the reference data delivered with the software for this task. Reference data includes both catalog data and specification data. Catalog data includes the parts that you place in the model, such as piping components and equipment. Specification data includes the rules that govern how those parts are placed and connected.

Documentation Set Intergraph SmartTM 3D documentation is available as Adobe PDF files. The content is the same as the online Help. To access these PDF documents, click Help > Printable Guides in the software. The documentation set is divided into four categories: Administrative guides contain information about installing, configuring, customizing, and

troubleshooting. User's guides provide command reference and how-to information for working in each task. Reference data guides define the reference data workbooks. Not all tasks have reference

    data. ISOGEN guides.

Whats New in Space Management Reference Data The following changes have been made to the Space Management reference data. Version 2014 (10.0) No changes were made to this document for this release.

10 Space Management Reference Data Guide

  • S E C T I O N 1

Before working with space management reference data, you must be familiar with how the software handles reference data in general. If you have not already done so, read and understand the following important concepts and procedures described in the Reference Data Guide: Custom attributes Symbol creation Codelists (also referred to as "select lists") Naming rules Bulkloading In the Space Management task, the reference data contains the requirements and properties necessary to create areas, zones, and interference volumes. The space management reference data is defined in the Microsoft Excel workbook called SpaceMgmt.xls. The software delivers this workbook to the [Product Folder]\CatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles folder. Reference data determines the values that populate the various dialog boxes in the Space Management task. For example, for a pipe attraction zone, the reference data for the Space Management task populates the Zone Properties dialog box. You can edit the specific values for the areas, zones, and volumes that are in your model.

Pipe Connection Zone Sheet The Pipe Connection Zone sheet in the SpaceMgmt.xls workbook defines zones that will have routed objects. A connection zone serves as a placeholder for route (pipe, cable, and so on) that has yet to be modeled. In addition to the common properties discussed in Space Management Sheets (on page 13), the following properties can be defined for a pipe attraction zone: Obstruction - Specify whether the zone allows routing through it (1) or whether the zone allows routing up to it, but not through it (0). ConnectionFace - Specify the side of the zone through which you want to route.
