REPORT ON DEMO PLATFORM ARDS TURDA 2015
4
Varieties sowing was done in April 28th, 2015 with WINTERSTEIGER Plotseed + Autopilot planter
at 50 cm the distance between rows.
The emergence of the 40 varieties took place in only 3 days (7, 8 and 9 May), fairly uniform due
to favorable temperature and especially the rainfall recorded in the last decade of April and the
first decade of May.
Under the conditions of 2015, average plant height was 81 cm for Adsoy and Solena varieties
and 134 cm for Ilinca TD. A very close value to the upper limit was recorded also for variety
Darina TD (131 cm).
For most genotypes the insertion height of the first basal pods was over 15 cm, facilitating low-
loss harvesting. Onix, Darina TD, Malina TD, Carla TD, Ilinca TD, Bia TD, Dukat, Richy, Rosa,
Srebina and Ika presented the insertion of the first basal pods between 20-24 cm.
The density at harvest ranged between 27-55 plants/m2; most varieties ranging between 40 and
55 plants/m2.
Given the great diversity of genotypes in terms of precocity, the limits of variation of the
vegetation period are quite broad, 107-140 days.
The earliest variety was Adsoy (107 days); being the only variety of very early maturity group.
The varieties of maturity group 000 had the vegetation period of 114 days for Tourmaline and
Solena and 117 days for variety Perla.
Under the conditions of 2015, the yields had been affected by the drought in July and the first
decade of August - period where many genotypes were either forming pods or forming grains or
even starting filling the grains; these phenophases involved a significant consumption of water.
Under these circumstances, the yields ranged from 1442 kg/Ha and 2668 kg/Ha.
The highest yields were registered for varieties Flavia - 2668 kg/Ha and DH 4176 - 2606 kg/Ha
and unexpected for Solena - 2629 kg/Ha, given the maturity group 000.
TGW was between 129 grams for variety Oana F and 224 grams for Isidor.
The 2015 results observed on the 43 soybean varieties displayed in Donau Soja demo platform
are presented in Table 2.

TIME OF SOWING
In the Time of Sowing experience, the following experimental plot has been established:
1. Time of Sowing I - early seeding on April 1st, 2015
2. Time of Sowing II - seeding during optimal period on April 15th, 2015
3. Time of Sowing III - late seeding on April 28th, 2015
The parameters of the seeding period plot are the following:
Distance between rows: 50 cm
Soy variety: Felix (00, ARDS Turda)
No. of variants: 3
Band width per sowing date per variety: 4 m
Plot width: 4 m
Plot length: 30 m
Acreage per time of sowing plot: 120 m2
Total acreage: 360 m2
In the first Time of Sowing, the emergence was on April 27th with a very long delay compared
to the sowing date. The delay of emergence was on the one side due to reduced soil water
reserve, on the other side due to pretty low temperatures recorded especially at night.
The second Time of Sowing also recorded a delay in emergence - on May 4th - but with a shorter
interval between sowing and emergence than the first Time of Sowing.
For the Time of Sowing III the emergence was normal, almost uniform within 8 days from
sowing. The main contribution largely had the rainfall on April 29th.
For Time of Sowing I the flowering occurred on June 11th; for Time of Sowing II on June 16th
and on June 20th for Time of Sowing III. The beginning of flowering had 9 days between Time of
Sowing I and Time of Sowing III.
Plant height ranged between 105 cm for Time of Sowing I and 114 cm for Time of Sowing II and
III; there is a difference of only 4 cm between first and second/third planting times.
The highest yield of 1794 kg/Ha was recorded for Time of Sowing III. For Time of Sowing I and
II the yields achieved were very close, 1443 kg/Ha respectively 1419 kg/Ha.
The highest TGW of 178 grams was recorded for Time of Sowing II, followed by Time of Sowing
I with 175 grams and 168 grams for Time of Sowing III.

SEEDING DENSITIES
The Seeding Densities experience was planted on May 5th, 2015 with KUHN drill at 50 cm distance
between rows.
Three densities were experimented:
1. 45 germinating grains/m2
2. 60 germinating grains/m2
3. 75 germinating grains/m2
The parameters of the seeding densities plot are the following:
Soy variety: Felix (00, ARDS Turda)
No. of variants: 3
Band width per density experience: 4 m
Plot width: 4 m
Plot length: 30 m
Acreage per density experience: 120 m2
Total acreage: 360 m2
The emergence for all three densities took place at the same date - May 12th, 2015 - under
normal conditions.
Both plant height and insertion height of basal pods recorded very close or equal values in some
cases. Plant height was 109 cm for the density of 45 g.g/m2; 106 cm at 60 g.g/m2 and 104 cm
at the density of 75 g.g/m2.
For both densities of 45 g.g/m2 and 60 g.g/m2 the insertion height was 15 cm and 18 cm for the
density of 75 g.g/m2.
The highest yield of 1761 kg/Ha was obtained at the density of 45 g.g/m2 followed by 1711
kg/Ha at 75 g.g/m2 and 1562 kg/Ha for the density of 60 g.g/m2.
TGW has registered close values for the densities of 60 g.g/m2 and 75 g.g/m2, respectively 181
grams and 179 grams. The lowest TGW of 174 grams was recorder for the density of 45 g.g/m2.

DISTANCES BETWEEN ROWS
The Distance Between Rows experience was seeded on May 5th, 2015 with KUHN drill.
Three distances between rows have been experimented:
1. 12,5 cm between rows
2. 25 cm between rows
3. 50 cm between rows
The parameters of the row spacing plot are the following:
Soy variety: Felix (00, ARDS Turda)
No. of variants: 3
Band width per row spacing experience: 4 m
Plot width: 4 m
Plot length: 4 m
Acreage per row spacing experience: 120 m2
Total acreage: 360 m2
The emergence was uniform in all three experimental plots on May 12th, 2015.
Plant height recorded very close values; 106 cm for the row spacing of 12,5 cm and 25 cm and
108 cm for 50 cm between rows.
Insertion height was almost identical, respectively 16 cm for 12,5 cm distance between rows
and 17 cm for 25 cm and 50 cm row spacing.
The highest yield of 1977 kg/Ha was achieved at 25 cm distance between rows slightly superior
to the ones achieved at 50 cm row spacing (1710 kg/Ha) and 12,5 cm distance between rows
(1696 kg/Ha).
TGW was 184 grams for 12,5 cm and 50 cm distance between rows and 182 grams for 25 cm
row spacing.
