    Abstract

    It has been known that an individual that goes to college to get a higher level of

    education usually have a different mentality than others who did not. However, these

    individuals have a different perceptive of the world and the issues that come about. For

    example, trusting the government, social issues, and any issues dealing with the world.

    The purpose of this paper is to inform individuals on the affect of college students by

    ones racial group, and if ones race has an effect on trusting the government by if one

    went to college for higher educational level. The degree that some individuals may have

    has an affect on what one might feel towards the government and the changes it can bring

    or can not bring.

    Introduction

    I. Description of problem: When an individual is blessed enough to have the advantage

    to go to college is a great thing. Race has always been an issue in the world either dealing

    with where one lives, attend school, or ones work place. The purpose of this issue is to

    see does the race and if that person attended college has an affect on if ones trust the

    government or not. A person who goes to college has a different mentality of the world

    and what is going on. The fact that one went to college has an impact on the way ones

    thinks, lives ones life, and the decisions that are made on a daily basis. The information

    that is given was on facts on different racial groups such as the Black , White , and Other.

    The white category where more trusting of the government in this time era. In the high

    school level in the most trusting category of people there is a number of 237 and the next

    highest level was the bachelor level of people of 113. In the Black race group the LT high

    school and the regular high school level of individuals were the most trusting rather than

    any college levels. The LT high school and regular high school had the numbers of

    trusting people of the government were 9 and 21. In the other category the high school

    level and the bachelor level had the highest number of trusting people with numbers of 7

    and the bachelor category was at a level of 7 as well. The information that is given is to

    detect the more trusting individuals versus the very distrust people towards the

    government by ones race.

    II. Attributes to be measured: The fact that Tuskegee University is an historical black

    college the Black category of trusting and very distrust people would be measured. The

    information that is shown on the data is of low percentages of individuals trusting the

    government and high percentages of people very distrusting the government. At

    Tuskegee University the same affect would probably be an impact on the student as well.

    I believe some behaviors that come about, is the fact that a lot of African Americans do

    not trust the government as much as others because of the issues we have faced in

    history. Either with the government or the way the race as a whole is treated. Some

    opinions that can be said by the data shown by other college student could be that more

    college students either on the bachelor or graduate level sees life and the world

    differently than the government so college student are less likely to be trusting of the

    government. The concept of attitudes and beliefs goes hand and hand in this situation.

    Ones attitudes towards a situation are based on ones belief on that situation at that time.

    In this case the fact that Black college student are more distrusting and high school

    student are trusting could basically mean that college student have received more

    information on the world and how it works versus a high school student that is still in a

    lower mentality of the world. A lot of perceptions and feeling come to play when this

    issue has risen over time. From one thinking why are African Americans so distrusting of

    the government way of thinking than any other race group. It can just be said that Blacks

    have face challenging situations in history that have corrupted the way an African

    American thinks and it has an affect of who one trusts in the world.

    III. Hypothesis , expectations , or research questions (Univariate , Bivariate,

    Multivariate): I believe that while assessing this situation I will be able to see the affect

    on the different racial groups and if a college education has on effect on one trusting the

    government or not. With the data I was able to analyze the different racial groups and see

    who had high and low percentages in trusting the government and the high and low

    percentages in very distrusting the government. The independent and dependent variables

    that are being measured are the trusting factor versus the factor of one has having a

    degree. When it comes to trust with individuals and the government the trust level varies.

    The degree that some individuals may have has a huge effect on what one might feel

    towards the government and the changes it can bring or can not bring. Also when race

    comes to play it has a huge affect on this situation. Race had an impact on the trust and

    degree variables. Base on ones race will have an influence on rather what race trust the

    government depending if one has a degree or not. With that being said it will produce an

    increase or decrease within the trust and degree variable based on ones race and

    background.

    IV: Rationale: I believe that the trust variable has a huge impact on the degree variable.

    In all the race categories it is shown that most individuals that do not have a degree are

    more trusting of the government and college level individuals are less likely to trust the

    government. However , the White group of people are more trusting of the government

    than the Black and Other category. It is seen that Blacks are less trusting base on the

    history or cultural backgrounds. With the White category they are more likely to trust the

    government, due to the fact of Whites being more superior over Black back in the earlier

    years in history. With that being said I believe that is why the roles are still the same

    since Blacks and Whites had issues with Black being less superior that affects the way

    individuals think today.

    VI. Discussion: The tables above explain the difference between races and their

    backgrounds. It is based on ones educational level if they trust or do not trust the

    government. In the White category more of these individuals are trusting with high

    percentages and the Black categories are at low levels of percentages. The Other is in the

    middle with some people trusting and other not.

    VII. Summary and Conclusion: In life there are many issues that come about. In this

    situation I was able to analyze the fact of race and trusting the government base on if one

    has an educational level or not. All the data that was shown where between the White,

    Black, and Other category. It has been seen that the white category had high percentages

    in trusting the government and less people distrust the government. One reason why it

    can be said that the White category had more people trusting the government is base on

    Whites being better off to others and have more advantages in life with other individuals.

    In the Black category there are many individuals that are not very trusting of the

    government. This could be that Blacks have faced many challenging times with the

    government and the fact that it has had an impact its triggers on the way individuals

    thinks today. On the other hand there was the Other category which these group of

    individuals had a rate of half and half with people trusting and not trusting the

    government. The fact that one educational level can have an impact on how one thinks

    towards the government is extremely powerful. In all the race categories the high school

    individuals were higher than any bachelor and graduate level of education in all the racial

    groups. Over time individuals grow and see what the world is all about , it can be a factor

    that high school students are more trustful of the government rather than college students

    because college student are more exposed to the real world and everyday life issues that

    are surrounding our nation than a high school student with a lower educational level. The

    overall purpose of the data is to explain to the world the difference between individuals

    by race and their educational level and the impact it has on the government and the world

    views of today.
