The dynamic Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Moderator Bull Battle will be a landmark, breed-changing event. We are very excited about this fi rst-ever Bull Battle to be held at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 3, 2015 and sponsored by SLABA. It is a “winner take all” contest with a twist – every exhibitor as well as every person that pays an entry fee gets 20 straws of semen and 20 AI certifi cates on the Bull Battle Champion. The exhibitor/breeder of the Bull Battle Champion wins the total of the entry fees less the costs of the Bull Battle. And one lucky participant wins the Bull Battle Champion!!!

Here’s How it Works: 1. All virgin Moderator and 50% Moderator Plus Bulls born between

March 1, 2013 and February 28, 2014 are eligible. 2. All bulls must be entered by the breeder. The breeder is determined as

the owner of the cow at time of birth.3. Entry fee for the Moderator Bull Battle is $1000/2 bulls. The entry

deadline is October 31, 2014.4. The opportunity to purchase a semen interest and chance for posses-

sion will sell for $1000 and sales will close immediately before the Bull Battle show begins.

5. The bulls will be weighed, ultra-sounded (at owner’s expense) and scro-

tal circumference measured upon arrival at the show. This data will be provided to the judges and the participants.

6. The bulls will be shown by age divisions on March 3, 2015 at 3:30 PM, immediately before the Houston Lowline Sale. Bulls will be evalu-ated and placed by a panel of three respected judges.

7. The Bull Battle Grand Champion will be named by the panel of judges and the exhibitor/breeder of the bull will win the total of the entry fees less sale commission and semen collection and insurance costs. If there are 50 entry fees paid, this amount is estimated to be between $35,000 and $40,000.

8. Every breeder that paid an entry fee will receive 20 units of semen and 20 non-transferable AI certifi cates from the Bull Battle Champion and the breeder of the Bull Battle Champion will receive a total of 50 units and 50 non-transferable AI certifi cates.

9. A lottery-type drawing will be simultaneously running. The last name drawn will own full possession and future rights to sell semen from the bull after two years. The possession winner of the Bull Battle Champion has the option of putting the bull in the Houston Lowline Sale that will immediately follow the Bull Battle Show.

10. The lottery drawing will also determine the order in which semen is released to participants. The fi rst participant drawn will get the fi rst semen, the second name drawn gets the second semen released etc.

11. The non-winning bulls will be ranked in order and will have the op-portunity to earn a sales position in the Houston Lowline Sale. Total number of bulls allowed to enter the sale will be determined on a per-centage of entries. Bulls selling in the sale will be charged the same sale commission as other sale entries.

Registration and Transfer: All animals, except where noted, sell with registration papers from their respective breed Association and will be transferred after the sale at the seller’s expense. In the case of dual registered cattle, both registration papers will be transferred.

Announcements: Any errors or changes of information contained in the catalog will be announced from the auction block and such announcements shall take precedence over information contained in the catalog.

Breeding Guarantee: Every effort will be made to make the most up-to-date information regarding pregnancy check available to the buyers.

Lowline bred females in the sale have been pregnancy examined by a veterinarian and found to be safe in calf. The open heifers selling are guaranteed to be breeders. If a female appears to be a non-breeder within 6 months of the sale (or within 6 months of when she reaches breeding age) she may be returned to the seller at the buyer’s expense. The seller will then reserve the right to prove the animal a breeder within a six month period, using any fullblood registered Lowline bull of his choice through AI or natural service. If success-ful, seller will return animal to buyer, again at buyer’s expense. Should the animal fail to prove a breeder, the seller at his option may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal value in full settlement and satisfaction of all claims. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

In case the animal in question should develop to be a problem breeder due to negligence or improper management by the buyer or if the female has been subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques, the seller’s guarantee does not apply. No guarantee is given that bred females will deliver a live calf. No guarantee is given that a female will produce eggs suitable for transplant.

Liabilities: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk and Auction Effertz, Ltd. and SLABA and the sale consignors assume no liability for any accidents that may occur. Neither does Auction Effertz, Ltd. or SLABA and the sale consignors assume any liability for loss or injury to livestock due to theft, mysterious disappearance, sickness, improper handling or Act of God. It is also to be clearly understood that Auction Effertz, Ltd. acts only as a medium between the buyer and the seller. They are not responsible in any way for any failure on the part of the buyer and the seller to live up to their obligations of for the truth of any warranties or representations, express or implied. Neither does Auction Effertz, Ltd. assume any fi nancial obligation to collect or enforce collection of monies between parties. Any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken, must be between the buyer and the seller.

Contract: The above terms and conditions shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller of each animal sold.

Mail bid: Mail or wire bids may be furnished. Bids must be in the hands of the sale man-ager in ample time prior to the sale and will be handled in strict confi dence.
