classes in “a castle”: Everett MansionMany SVC classes are held in the Everett Mansion, a sprawling, English-style manor built in the early 1900s. Set on the highest point on campus,alongside Mount Anthony, the Mansion offers breathtaking views of theGreen Mountains and the valley below.
American Industrialist Edward Everett, who built the Mansion as hisfamily’s second home, was a practical businessman and horticulturist. HisBennington estate, with over 50,000 apple, quince and plum trees, wassaid at one time to be the largest, privately-owned orchard in the country.

completing your bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at SVC, putting you a step ahead of your peers.
You’ll learn from professors who have experience as a Lead Prosecutor, an Executive Director of the
Vermont Police Academy, or an investigation expert in child abuse, domestic violence, forensics and the
relationship to the criminal trial process. In History & Politics, learn from a professor who will engage
you in discussions about the culture, history and politics in Nicaragua, Turkey and Japan or another
country on the long list of trips he’s taken. Learn from Psychology professors who have clinical,
developmental and theoretical experience. At SVC, your faculty will empower you to use the knowledge
you’ve gained to challenge their beliefs and argue your points effectively.

ever wanted to write a book?SVC has teamed up with a local independent bookstore with its own press label and
publishing services, for an exciting initiative called The Shires Press Series. This initiative
offers full-time SVC students the opportunity to study the foundations of book
publishing while working on their own manuscript, from conception to completion.
At the end of the four-course series, each student will have 5 printed copies of their own
published work, with marketing options in the retail and online marketplace.

include teachers, lab technicians, research and development
and scientist; many choose to pursue advanced degrees in
medicine, physical therapy, pharmacy, dentistry and law.

practice work in the healthcare field.

you are offered individualized course-of-study options with an emphasis in: Ecology and Environment,
Cellular and Molecular Biology, or Pre-Professional Studies. Radiologic Sciences students gain hands-
on experience through their use of a brand new Healthcare Education Center with an energized lab and
clinical rotations offered in two states. Over the past five years, graduates averaged a pass rate of 95% on
the National Licensure Exam.

rotations in a variety of settings, including hospitals and other patient settings, both large and small within Vermont,
New York and Massachusetts. SVC offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree with two tracks. The
Pre-Licensure BSN track is designed for individuals who wish to achieve a BSN and upon graduation be eligible to
sit for the NCLEX-RN examination. The RN-BSN track is designed for registered nurses who wish to continue
their education and achieve a BSN.

start investing in you!3 steps to financial aid Pursuing a college degree is a big investment, but a worthwhile one for you. Our job at the Southern Vermont College Office of Student Financial Services is to help you make it happen. At SVC, 90% of students receive some sort of financial aid. Each year, the College awards over 4.1 million dollars in institutional grants and scholarships.
1. complete the FAFSAThe first and most important step in the financial aid process is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is how federal and institutional aid are determined. You may complete the FAFSA after January 1 by visiting www.fafsa.gov. You should submit your FAFSA by February 15 in order to receive aid. We recommend you file early, using your taxes as a guide.SVC’s school code: 003693
2. make a planSVC Applicants are reviewed for merit-based aid as well as federal and institutional aid, once the FAFSA is available. The friendly, knowledgeable staff in the Office of Student Financial Services will help you and your parents determine your financial aid eligibility and the programs best suited for your college plan.
3. we are flexible & patientAid packages may include a mixture of grants, scholarships, low-interest loans and work-study opportunities.
