BIGGEST NEWS ITEM: SOUTHERN STAR SALE TRANSACTION ANNOUNCED On May 1, 2015, Southern Star Central Corp. announced its new owners. As you may recall, our previous communications to you announced that Southern Star was for sale by the current ownership group, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP). Well, MSIP has announced that a consortium consisting of affiliates of General Electric Energy Financial Services (GE EFS) and Caisse de dépôt et du Québec (CDPQ) will become the new owners upon closing. If you have been around Southern Star for a while, you may ask: “Wait a minute...didn’t GE and CDPQ own Southern Star before?” The answer is yes. In 2005, a partnership of GE and CDQP purchased Southern Star. CDQP sold its 40% stake in early 2010 to MSIP, and GE EFS followed suit in September, 2012. Assuming a closing of this transaction in the next 60 days or so, “They’re baa-ack.” What does this mean to you, the Customer? The answer is it should be seamless. All owners —past, present and future - have been supportive of Southern Star, our commitment to service and partnering, and our efforts to grow the Company. This will not change. The proposed new owners have already sent a message to us of “business as usual,” and you should expect to be doing business with the same Southern Star team that you have been accustomed to. In fact, our Company goals for this year include the concepts of improving timely communications and information to Customers while ensuring a smooth ownership transition. Southern Star’s commercial representatives and management have endeavored to keep you and your folks ap- prised of events related to the sales process, including calls to you immediately following the announcement. MSIP showed tremendous confidence in Southern Star over the years, evolving from a partial to full owner of the asset. They believed in us and what we do and have been very supportive. GE EFS and CDPQ have pledged to do the same. THANKS AND CLOSING It’s a busy and exciting time for our industry. Opportunities for natural gas, you and Southern Star may be at an all-time high. Please let us know if you have ideas or service needs that we can partner on. At Southern Star, we appreciate your business and the strong business relationships, but the friendships are the most important. If you have some feedback for us on anything, please let us know. Best regards and have a safe and happy summer,

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I hope all of you had a safe winter season and early spring. As the calendar moves into mid June and approaches the “summer season,” I thought it was time to reach out to you.

BIGGEST NEWS ITEM: SOUTHERN STAR SALE TRANSACTION ANNOUNCED

On May 1, 2015, Southern Star Central Corp. announced its new owners.

Assuming a closing of this transaction in the next 60 days or so, “They’re baa-ack.”

What does this mean to you, the Customer? The answer is it should be seamless. All owners —past, present and future - have been supportive of Southern Star, our commitment to service and partnering, and our efforts to grow the Company. This will not change. The proposed new owners have already sent a message to us of “business as usual,” and you should expect to be doing business with the same Southern Star team that you have been accustomed to. In fact, our Company goals for this year include the concepts of improving timely communications and information to Customers while ensuring a smooth ownership transition. Southern Star’s commercial representatives and management have endeavored to keep you and your folks ap-prised of events related to the sales process, including calls to you immediately following the announcement.

MSIP showed tremendous confidence in Southern Star over the years, evolving from a partial to full owner of the asset. They believed in us and what we do and have been very supportive. GE EFS and CDPQ have pledged to do the same.

Southern Star Ranks #3 in Mastio Survey

Southern Star’s value continues to stand strong in the ever-changing natural gas market! In the 2015 Mastio Natural Gas Pipeline Customer Value and Loyalty Study, Southern Star ranked third in the Mastio Quality Award for the Major Pipeline

Category (pipelines with at least 3,500 miles of transportation pipe serving at least three states).

We truly appreciate the time our customers take from their busy schedules to provide us with their valuable feedback for both the Mastio and the Energy Insights Surveys. The Mastio Survey allows us to compare our service and value

to respective pipelines within our peer group so that we can continue to provide competitive services. The Energy Insights Survey is an excellent tool for developing valuable benchmarking data. Both surveys reflected some of the same key areas for improvement and allowed us to set goals for success in 2015. Your comments told us to focus on providing you with prompt and accurate responses and striving to learn more about your business in order to offer proactive and creative solutions.

Southern Star Employee Awarded for Excellence

Robin Joska, Customer Service in Owensboro, was recently named Soccer Official of the Year by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA). Officials were nominated

based on a combination of their service to their association and excellence in officiating the following sports: baseball, basketball, cheer, football, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, track & field/cross country, volleyball, and wrestling.

KHSAA recognizes officials for their dedication and service to the schools and high school students in the state of Kentucky, as well as the dedication that many put forth in assuring the growth in their local associations.

Safety Boot Camp

Southern Star hosted Safety Boot Camp May 5-7 at the Hesston Learning Center. Safety Boot Camp is designed for Operations Team Leads and Supervisors located in or with personnel in the field to participate in open dialogue on multiple

topics related to safety. Dialogue was frank and also spilled over into discussions involving efficiency and work processes. The group shared barriers to achieving the goal of Forever Zero with discussion and debate. Everyone shared what Forever Zero meant to them.

A session spurring passionate conversation about the personal aspect of safety was facilitated by a representative from Behavioral Safety Technology. The session was aptly called, “Making Safety Personal.” “It became very clear, and everyone agreed, that the highest calling we have in this world is to protect the sanctity of human life, whether at work or at home,” said Rob Carlton, Vice President of Compliance.

“It is a calling higher and more demanding than any regulation would ever hold us accountable,” added Vice President of Operations, Bob Bahnick. “It was a very uplifting week!”

Congratulations Robin!

SouthernStar “Digs” Schools

The Alva work location celebrated National Safe

Digging Month by participating in “We Dig Schools.” “We Dig Schools,” a community event, involved several natural gas companies and local businesses such as Southern Star, Chesapeake Energy, Williams Pipeline, Call Okie, and the local John Deere Dealership. The event targeting elementary aged children, provided lunch and displayed booths. Each of the booths covered a different aspect of safety.

Southern Star had two booths: a line locating booth, and a backhoe display. The Blackwell work location had a Pipeline Safety/811 booth. Kids rotated through the booths and had a good time learning. There were a lot of activities, includ-ing locating a mock line using buried tracer wire. Teachers said, “This was a great event! It shows commitment to the communities in which Southern Star operates and that the industry is committed to safety. It also helped to build relationships with the local emergency responders. The event even had Smokey the Bear and Okie!”

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” - Aristotle

NASCAR Driver Joey Logano spreads the 811 Awareness during Texas Motor Speedway’s Media Day on March 31, 2015

The 811 emblem will be visible for many years to come as history was made on June 6th. The world anxiously observed American Pharoah win the coveted Triple Crown Saturday at the Belmont Stakes. This was the first in 37 years and millions could see the 811 logo worn by jockey Victor Espinoza during the race. Victor Espinoza took American Pharoah to the lead immediately to become racing’s 12th Triple Crown win-ner. The 5 ½-length victory was the third-largest Triple Crown winning margin. After the race Ahmed Zayat, Zayat Stables, was asked if he intends on running American Pharoah for the rest of the 2015 season. He stated, “I personally made a promise to my family and to the fans more than anybody else, that we need to enjoy our stars and race them as long as we possibly (can).”

And the 811 message will be along for the ride.
