Suomenlinna
Suomenlinna is one of the worlds largesthistorical maritime fortresses and hometo 850 city residents. With its museums,

Seurasaari
Seurasaari is a popular museum islandand recreational area located 15 minutesby bus from the city centre. The woodenbuildings at the Open-Air Museum rep-resent Finnish building traditions fromthe 18th to the 20th centuries. Duringthe summer season various workshopsand events at the museum present tradi-tional handicrafts, customs, folklore andfolk dancing.
Kaivopuisto & nearby islands
Kaivopuisto is Helsinkis oldest and mostpopular park, as well as a prestigious em-bassy district. The proximity of the sea,the rocky cliffs and the green lawns offermany opportunities to relax and enjoythe outdoors. Along the shore and onthe nearby islands you can nd several
cafs and summer restaurants. Take aferry to Uunisaari Island off the southernshore of Kaivopuisto Park or to Pihla-jasaari Island and nd sandy beaches and

Kivinokka & Uutela
Kivinokka is a large outdoor and recrea-tional area situated in the Herttoniemidistrict in Helsinki. Actively used by lo-cals, it represents a signicant part of

rugged cliffs, natural marshland and oldvillas, Uutela is the largest and most di-verse outdoor area in East Helsinki.
Tuomarinkyl Manor
Tuomarinkyl Manor is located next tothe Vantaanjoki river. With a history dat-ing back to the 16th century, the manorhouse is surrounded by cultivated land,stables and a garden. Visitors can alsorelax and dine in the idyllic Tuomarinkylrestaurant.
Haltiala
The Haltiala area is the largest single

SEEThe Spa Park
The beautiful old wooden villas inthe Spa Park were built at the end of1800s. The villas, designed by well-known architects, represent a decora-tive wooden architecture. Some of thebuildings still serve as guest houses
and restaurants. The spa building wasdamaged during the ContinuationWar and was pulled down.
Emigration memories
During the years 18801930, nearly250,000 Finns and Russians emigrat-ed to America, Canada or Australia viaHanko.
War memories
The cape of Hanko was rented to theSoviet Union as a naval base underthe peace treaty of Moscow (1940),which ended the Winter War. TheSoviet Union brought a garrison of
30,000 men to Hanko. There are stillruins of fortifications in the centre ofthe town.
Nature
Nature in Hanko is incredibly varieddue to the temperate climate and thegeographic location. The landscapeis characterized by magnificent cliffsand unspoilt stretches of fine whitesand, sheltered bays, and beautifulmeadows.

SEELaivasilta Marina Areafeatures a row of old salt sheds that to-day house the Maritime Museum, res-taurant-cafs and exhibitions. Svartholma Sea Fortress (1748)is situated on an island in Loviisanlahtibay some 10 km from the town centre.In the summer, June-August, there are
scheduled cruises to the island, childrensadventures, guided walking tours and anexhibition calledSvartholma the islandof soldiers, prisoners and tourists. On theisland there is also a summer caf.
Strmfors Iron Workslies some 17 km east of the centre ofLoviisa. The Iron Works area hosts crafts-men and other service entrepreneurs es-pecially in the summer. There are guidedtours, forging demonstrations using ahydraulic hammer, a church, a museumand exhibitions. There is also a restau-rant and a summer caf and accommo-dation possibilities on the area.
RnnsIn Rnns, some 30 km west of the centreof Loviisa, there is the Rnns Archipel-ago Museum which presents the historyof the archipelago in the Loviisa region.It is open from June to August daily. Inthe nearby region is also a golf course, arestaurant, a caf and cottages for rent.www.ronnas.net
