THE TITLE GAME AND SCORED TfffiEE TOUCHDOWNS.Foothill (9-1), champion of the Century League over El ~tIodena

(6-4), took three California tie-breaker over~imes to finally edgethe Vanquards. The Knights defeated Kennedy (41-35), El Torro (23-0)and Villa Park (10-7) before their title struggle with El Modena.

The Division II all-star team is composed of players representingthe Southern, Coastal and Northwestern Conferences.

45TH ANNUAL FOOTBALL AHARDS PROGRAM AT CULVER CITY f-1EMORIAL AUDITORIUM JAN 23Members of the Division II first team (offense and defense) will be hon­

ored guests at the 45th annual All-Southern California Board of Football Awa­rds Program to be held at Culver City Memorial Auditorium on Saturday morning,January 23 at 10: 30 am. First team members together with their coaches, highschool administrators, collegiate coaches and selection committee members willreceive invitations to attend the presentation ceremonies.

First Interstate Bank Athletic Foundation framed scroll awards will bepresented to all honored players, with Division ~s and Conference champion­ship coaches also receiving special recognition.

Following the presentation a buffet luncheon will be served to all guestsin the Culver City Auditorium complex.

Sixty-two players representing 41 high schools are on this yearsDivision II all-stars. Antelope Valley High School, winner of the NorthwesternConference title, landed four players on the honor teams••••as did Santa Monica,Coastal Conference Champion.

Bay League Champion Santa Monica defeated the defending CoastalConference champion L.B. Poly Jackrabbits 21-8. Finishing the season 10-1-1, TebKusserow's Vikings brought their coach a title which had escaped h~ as a Samohiplayer 23 years ago. It was in 1958 that the Vikings, with Kusserow a sophomoretackle, lost to Poly in the Southern Section finals 31-19. The Vikings defeatedSan Gabriel (47-20), Dos Pueblos (12-0) and Hueneme (28-7) on their way to theCoastal crown.

Northwestern Conference kingpins Antelope Valley defeated Burroughsof Burbank 24-14 in the title-decider. The Antelopes, 8-2 during the regular seasonand Golden League Champions, bettered Blair (21-7), Temple City (14-7) and Monrovia(17-15) before finishing off the Foothill League Champions. Antelope Valley con­cluded its season 11-2 while Burroughs was 10-4.

Ralph Hilson, a superb two-way performer playing guard on off­ense and linebacker on defense, displayed the type of dedication whichwas the makeup of this year's Arlington (Riverside) team. Performingwith a separated shoulder through most of the season, HIlson was theheart of the Eastern Conference Champions, a team that compiled a 13-1

season mark.

Arlington, winner of -the Ivy League title with a 9-1 record, de-feated Damian (39-15), La Serna (20-13), South Hills (29-7) and Rubi­

doux (23-8) in the title decider. Besides MVP vlilson Arlington placed two other play­ers on the Division III all-stars. Runner-up Rubidoux in the Eastern Conference raceplaced four pla.yers on the team, whUe Claremont, a semi-finalist, also placed four.

Mission Viejo, Central Conference Champions with a shutout (oneof seven during the year) 35-0 win over Los .Amigos in the finals. South Coast Leaguechampions, the Diablos fine defe-nae shut out Mayfair 41-0 in the first playoff round.

Then followed wins over Rancho Alamitoa (3}-6) and Bres (32-12) before the aeason-end­

ing 35-0 blitz of Garden Grove League Champion Los Amigos. Mission Viejo recorded 16first downs in the title game, while the Lobos first first down came mid-way throught.he third quarter. The Diablos placed three players on the Division III all-stars.

Southeastern Conference Champion Indio, 21-20 wirmer over Ganeshathe champions of the Hacienda League, placed three players on the Division III teams.The Desert Valleys Champion defeated Chino (61-7), Schurr (20-7), Royal Oak (16-13)and Ganesha for the title.------

Free safety Allen accounted for 10tackles for losses and 11 intercep-tions during 10 regular seasongames, as the Eagles compiled a 12-2 championship season.

Desert High School, as Verbun Dei, did i1; with defense in "thetitle game against Tehachapi, allowing the Warriors but four rushingyards. The'Soorpions (11-1-1 for the season) scored a 15-3 upset toend Tehaohapi's dream of a perfect season. The Warriors ended 13-1.

Both Banning and Carson fin­ished the season 11-1.

He led coach Chris Ferragamo:fsPilots to lrins over San Fernando (45-7), Gardena (44-7) and Carson (21-11~) for the title.The Colts had defeated the Pilots 1}-12 during the season to stop a 3O-.eame Banning winstreak.

Canoga Park fullback Bob Dyer carried 119 times for 764 yards and 11 TDs &.wi th 36 PATs s cored a city-high 102 points. Co-l'.wP in Dive }-A Eddie Lewis carried 151 t.imesfrom his tailback post for 1,058 yards and 14 TDs. ·

Garfield, }-O l.vinne~ over Jordan for' the 2-A ·Division cro~m, is representedby two players on this year's city team with one, linebacker Bob Gazmararian named divisionMVP. Bob had over 140 tackles and assists, plus 15 sacks and five interceptions.

In }-A Division championship play Canoga Park and Van Nuys shared the title,the championship game ending 13-13_ Last year the \'lolves tied \nth I'Jarbonne for divisionlaurels 11~-14.
