Important information:

Entries for Classes 1, 2 and 3 must be of at least 500ml, and may be in one or two bottles.

Entries for Class 4 must be at least 250ml, and in one bottle.

Commercial producers may submit an entry in the container in which it is usually sold, including the label.

All bottles must be clearly marked with your entry number (1-7) and the Entry Class (1-4).

The completed Entry Form and payment must accompany all entries.

The Chief Steward will decant all entries into special sample bottles. Each entry will be assigned a unique code number which will remain confidential until completion of judging. Each entry will be divided into two samples. One sample will be sent for chemical analysis and the other sample will be used for Organoleptic Sensory Assessment.

ENTRY CLASSES

Class 1 Single Estate Grown, Production 25-200 litres. EVOO sourced from a blend of olive varieties or a single olive variety grown in the one grove. Class 2 Single Estate Grown, Production greater than 200 litres. EVOO sourced from a blend of olive varieties or a single olive variety grown in the one grove. Class 3. Multi Estate Grown, Production greater than 200litres. EVOO sourced from a blend of olive varieties or a single olive variety grown in more than one grove. Class 4. Flavoured Olive Oil, Production greater than 25 litres.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Entries must be of 100% Australian origin, and from the 2015 harvest. 2. For Classes 1, 2 and 3, a maximum of 5 entries will be accepted. For Class 4, a maximum of 2 entries will be

accepted. 3. Class 4 oils must not contain emulsions, eg. Water or vinegar, or fresh flavouring agents containing water, eg.

Fresh garlic or herbs. 4. Class 4 oils are not eligible for Best Oil of Show Award. 5. Entrants agree to the publication of all Show results. Entries that do not receive awards will not be identified by

name. 6. Entrants will hold the South West Olive Association, and associated organizers of the Competition free from any

liability in connection with loss of entries, mistakes made, or incomplete documentation. 7. Recipients of awards agree that all advertising, promotion and labelling arising from the award will include

details and the year of the award, i.e. SW EVOO Competition, 2015, the award level, gold, silver or bronze, and will only be applied to packaging containing the award-winning oil, and not to other blends of that oil.

8. All entries, including olive oil, bottles and other packaging, remain the property of the SWOA, and will not be returned to the entrant

9. The South West Olive Association reserves the right to: (a) Restructure the classes. (e.g. if insufficient entries in a class) (b) Not to make awards in any class. (c) Refuse any entry.

10. The decisions of the judging panels are final; protests will not be accepted. 11. Entry fees are not refundable. JUDGING & AWARDS Each entry will be chemically analysed for Free Fatty Acid (FFA) expressed as % of Oleic Acid), Polyphenol level (mg Caffeic Acid / Kg oil) and Peroxide levels (expressed as milliequivalents of active Oxygen/Kg oil). The results of the chemical analysis of all the oils entered in the competition will be published in the results catalogue.

To qualify for an award, the Free Fatty Acid (FFA %) should not exceed 0.8% and the Peroxide level should not exceed 20. Organoleptic sensory assessment will be carried out by a panel of qualified and experienced judges using the AOA 100 point quality evaluation system. Oils scoring from 65-75 points will receive a Bronze Award; oils scoring from 76-85 points will receive a Silver Award; and oils scoring 86 or more will receive a Gold Award. Class 4 flavoured oils are not eligible for the Best Oil of Show Award. Judging will take place on Saturday 3rd October 2015 in Bridgetown. Judging will not be open to the public. A unique handcrafted Trophy will be presented to the winner of Best of Show. Award Certificates will be presented to Best of Show winner, Best of Class winners (1-4) and all recipients of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Only entrants of award-winning oils will be identified by name after judging; other entrants will be sent their results separately. A catalogue of results will be published and sent to all entrants.

Awards will be announced at a dinner hosted by the SWOA on Saturday evening 24th October 2015 to be held at the Emporium Bistro Bridgetown WA.
