15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available

to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water

available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show.

18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press if possible.

20. All dogs will be benched alphabetically within their breeds. Dogs must be present on their benches at all times except a) when being judged; b) when being prepared for exhibition and/or being exercised for a period not exceeding 30 minutes. Dogs may be removed from their benches by order of the Veterinary Surgeon or Show Management.

21. No acknowledgement of receipt of entries will be made unless a stamped addressed postcard in enclosed with entries. 22. Under no circumstances will entry fees be refunded once entries are received. The Association may, entirely at the discretion

of the Committee and at any time, alter the stated show venue or abandon the show. In the case of venue alteration no refund of entry fees shall be made, regardless of when notice of change of venue is given. In the case of abandonment a full credit of the entry fees received from the exhibitor will be allowed against fees due for the following year’s entry, but no refund of fees shall be made.

23. Exhibitors are asked to note that cheques etc. sent to cover entry fees must at least be for the correct amount and must be in order for immediate payment. Those which are not so for any reason whatsoever (including technical irregularities) will not be accepted and entries therewith will be returned.

24. An administration charge of £2.00 will be levied against the owner for any Entry Fees and/or Entry Forms which have to be returned to the exhibitor for correction or amendment. There will be a charge of £10.00 made to the exhibitor for any cheques/credit card payments not honoured.

25. Catalogues will only be available on a pre-paid basis. 26. It should be distinctly understood by exhibitors and spectators at the Show that the Committee will not be responsible

for the entire or partial loss or detention of or damage to dogs or any other property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever or from any act of omission of themselves or their officers, servants, agents or others. Exhibitors and spectators will be held responsible for any damage to property or equipment within the environs of the Royal Welsh Showground caused by their children or children in their care. It is on this understanding that entries are accepted.

27. A Safety Officer will be in attendance throughout the show. Exhibitors and spectators are reminded that just as South Wales Kennel Association has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of all those attending their event, all those present have a duty and responsibility for their own safety. They are therefore expected to take the greatest care to avoid guy ropes, uneven surfaces and other hazards which are inevitable and integral elements of a dog show. Those bringing and using portable items of equipment such as folding chairs, trolleys, cages and grooming tables also have a responsibility to ensure that their tools, equipment and collapsible furniture is used and erected safely and does not constitute a hazard to others. Exhibitors are also reminded that they should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions on the site. Exhibitors show at their own risk if conditions are not ideal.

28. Any owner/exhibitor/handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove immediately any fouling caused by their dog(s) and/or any grooming waste at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches.

29. The use of mobile phone in the vicinity of the rings is prohibited. 30. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 31. a) No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time whilst at the licensed venue including

its environs, car park and caravan parks and approaches. b) The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure

that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS' COMPETITION Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of four dogs of one breed, all bred by the same breeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and then arranges which dogs are exhibited on the day of the show (from those dogs duly entered for exhibition in another class at this show). Please clearly state the name and affix of the registered breeder(s). Entries will not be taken on the day of the show. Teams will be awarded points/prize money in the KC Breeders' Competition as follows: Points 1st; 30; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5. Prize Money 1st Non ABS Prize Fund £20; ABS Prize Fund £25. Please note that Assured Breeders will be credited with a higher prize value. These points will be recorded in the Kennel Club Breeders Competition record book through the year. The minimum qualification for the Crufts final will be 50 points, with a maximum of 40 finalists including the winning teams from the European and World Dog Shows’ breeders competition. Our Dogs will collate the points and publish a leader board through the year. Please Note: Dogs which take part in the Breeders' Competition, but are not entered in the show, are required to have a completed entry form. Owners of these dogs must attend the Secretary’s office to complete the entry form.

YKC MEMBERS' STAKES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The YKC method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. If a member and dog combination accumulate 30 points or more, they will qualify for Crufts. Points will be allocated for the Dog and Handler pairing. All points are reset to 0 on 1st February each year. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered; a. Solely or jointly in the member’s name or b. In the name of a close member of the family (i.e a group of people related by blood or marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted - the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. Members must be aged 6 -24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a members 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions. Before competing, please view a full list of the YKC competition rules at: www.ykc.org.uk/ and follow the compete tab.

YKC MEMBERS' HANDLING CLASSES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into an YKC qualifying class. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); 12-17 years (12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday); 18-24 years (18 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please enter the class age category you will be on the day of the qualifier. If you should move into the next age range after you have already qualified, the YKC will invite you into the correct age group at Crufts. The method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. Members will receive points per group (i.e. if they handle a bloodhound, they will get points towards the Hound group). If a member gets 30 points in any one group, they will qualify to enter a dog from that group at Crufts 2021. If a member gains 30 or more points in multiple groups, they may only compete with one dog at Crufts, but they will have the option to choose from any of the groups they have 30 or more points in. All points are reset to 0 on 1st January each year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Before competing, please view a full list of the YKC competition rules at: www.ykc.org.uk/ and follow the compete tab. YKC Handling classes may be the first and only entry for a dog at this show. If, at this show, a dog is entered only YKC Handling class (i.e. that dog is not entered in a breed class or YKC Stakes class), that dog must be registered on EITHER the relevant Kennel Club breed register OR the Kennel Club activity register. If a dog is entered into YKC handling and any other class (i.e. a breed class or YKC Stakes class), that dog MUST be on the relevant Kennel Club breed register.
