One of our missions as the VFW is to sup-port the community. We, as a Post have not had a community service project for the post in some time we would like to think of something for the Spring. Please bring your ideas and opinions to the next meeting!

Congratulations to Nathaniel C Gueltzau from Post 7356 Parkville, Missouri awarded $5000 from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and SportsClips “Help a Hero” scholarship. He is attending UMKC school of law. HTTP://WWW.VFW.ORG/SCHOLARSHIP/

The VFW and one of its major supporters, Sport Clips Haircuts, have again partnered to help our vet-erans and their families. The VFW's "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" will provide service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals with-out incurring excessive student loan debt. It’s just another way to say “thank you” to those who de-serve it the most.

BREAKFAST CREW NEEDS YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE!

Membership is the strength of the VFW. The more members we have the more we can do to assist and support local veterans and our com-munity. We are doing more in the community, doing more events at the Post and trying to come up

with new things to bring you back. The more members who get involved, the more ideas we can share and the more events we can do. If you know a veteran who is qualified, share your pride in

the Post and ask them to join.

Ladies Auxiliary

Sisters,

I am glad to see warner weather. The Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Banquet was well attended. Thanks to all the auxiliary members who helped set up the tables for the banquet. I attended the District 3 Ladies Auxiliary meeting on January 25th. Department President Sheila Allen spoke at the meeting. There will be changes to some of the Auxiliary Programs next year. I hope to have more information when I return from the Winter Council of Administration Meeting.

The Auxiliary is still looking to increase membership. Post Commander Butler is communicating with Post members to help us do so. Please keep in mind when you meet someone that she may qualify for membership in the Ladies Auxiliary. The basic requirements are to be age 16; be a U.S. Citizen or Na-tional; profess a faith in God; be the mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, wife or widow of a Veteran who served in a foreign war. We have brochures and membership applications available if you need some. Just let me know.

We will be serving meatball subs and salad prior to the February 26th meeting. We need workers to as-sist with this. The annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be Tuesday, March 17th. Workers will also be need-ed then. Please let me know if you are able to assist with that event.

If you have a question or a concern about anything related to the auxiliary, please call me. It helps to know your issue prior to a meeting. That way it can be researched thoroughly. I may have to return your call, but I do want to hear from you.

Thanks for all that you do for Veterans. Please put our next meeting on February 26th on your calendar. I hope to see all of you there.

Cheryl Hainkel., President

Meatball Subs! Chips! Salads! The Ladies Auxiliary will serve meatball subs and salad from 5:30 to 7 on Thurs-

day, February 26th. Come and join us for food and fellowship. Donations will be accepted.

Breaking News! Breaking News! Breaking News!

The Ladies Auxiliary wants all Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary Members with small children to know that we are offering child care during meetings. If you are interested in bringing your child, please email the Ladies Auxiliary at [email protected]. Please give your name, the first name of your child, age of your child, any special needs and a contact phone number. This is a new initiative and will be pro-vided on an as needed basis.

The Ladies Auxiliary also is in need of toys, games, storybooks and coloring books for small children. They will help us to be sure your children have something to do while you are attending the Post or Aux-iliary meeting. We ask that toys be block, Legos, or other toys that do not produce loud sounds. If you have questions, contact Cheryl Hainkel, President.
