Our students performances at Coffs Harbour will be screened by the organising committee and then we will be notified at a later date of our possible successful application. Our Dance Troupes will also be performing as part of the Southside Public Schools Creative Arts night at South Grafton High School and our School Concert both being held later this term.
Good luck to our school netball team playing Westlawn Public School today in the PSSA knockout. Thanks to Mrs Pope for organising and coaching this team and our parents for their support of transport. Congratulations to our Year 5 and Year 6 students who participated in yesterdays Netball Gala Day. All our students participated with excellent sportsmanship and our thanks to Ms Grayndler for her supervision of this activity. A permission note has been sent home for Musica Viva which will be performing at our school on the 1st June. The performance will be presented by Zeeko based on Earth, Wind and Sea. As mentioned in the note we will try and organise students who may be participating in the Eisteddfod on that day an appropriate time to view the show. If this is not possible a full refund will be returned. Please return the permission slip and payment to your class teachers.
Congratulations to Hannah Blundell on being chosen for the North Coast PSSA netball team. This is a fantastic achievement by Hannah and we wish her all the best at the upcoming State Carnival.
Congratulations to our students who have been participating this weeks in a regional engagement program designed to EMPOWER indigenous children through singing, song writing, visual arts and storytelling. The students have had a fantastic experience and the program concludes tomorrow with a concert for parents and friends at 12 noon at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium.

This fantastic event is happening tomorrow, Friday at our Primary Campus. We are looking forward to a great morning. On Friday we will have around 300 people accompanying the Variety Bash visiting our school. Our school is responsible for providing breakfast from 6.00am to 8.30am for our visitors. The cars attached to the Bash will be parked on our top playground for the general public to view. The majority of the cars will be in the playground from 7.00am-8.30am. The Variety Bash will be leaving our school at 8.30am. Our P&C will also be holding a BBQ Breakfast, hundred clubs and raffling a helicopter ride for 2 (1 x student and 1 x carer/adult). The P&C BBQ Breakfast will begin at 7.00am and run through to approximately 8.45am. Students have received tickets for the helicopter raffle. This will be drawn on the morning and the winning student must be present with their carer/adult when the raffle is drawn to participate in the helicopter ride as soon as the BASH cars leave our school. The 20 minute ride will leave from our lower primary playground. This is a major fundraiser for our school and your support would be greatly appreciated. Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Alert 17/5/2016 There has been a recent confirmed case of whooping cough (pertussis) in a member of the South Grafton Public School community. Whooping cough caught at school can spread to any other members at home. Coughing spreads the infection to others nearby. Whooping cough can be especially dangerous for babies. Whooping cough starts like a cold and progresses to bouts of coughing that can last for many weeks. Older children may just have a cough that is persistent and is worse at night. The infection may also occur in fully-vaccinated children. What should people sick with pertussis do? Pertussis is readily spread from an infected person to others by coughing and sneezing. If left untreated, it can be spread for up to three (3) weeks after the start of the infected person’s cough. Do not attend work, school or a childcare facility if you or any household members:
Have a cough as described above. Please see your doctor.
Are being tested for whooping cough by your doctor and waiting for test results.
Are being treated with antibiotics for whooping cough for at least five (5) days after starting the
medicine Keep coughing children away from babies. Whooping cough vaccines give good protection against infection but immunity fades. If your school-aged child has younger siblings, it’s a good idea to check that they are up to date with their vaccines. For further advice, please call the Public Health Unit 1300 066 055 or NSW Health website http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Factsheets/pertussis.pdf http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/whoopingcough/Pages/default.aspx
Remember for every pair of shoes purchased from The Athlete’s Foot, $5 will be donated back to our school
