Our Response to God’s Word

*Hymn #324 Open My Eyes That I May See

*Affirmation of Faith - Selection from The Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the

communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship

and serve.

We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to

the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and

binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the

gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain

and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life,

breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of

God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Want to be in Paul Ebel’s favorite spot in the whole church? According to Paul, during the singing, the Pulpit Assistants can hear the congregation out of one ear and the choir out of the other and it is a wonderful experience. Our worship committee is looking for a few others who would like to be trained to be a Pulpit Assistant and experience this wonderful sound for themselves. Please contact the church office or Lynn Burkes, the Chair of our Worship Committee, if you are interested. There will be a half hour training session scheduled soon.

The SAPC Easter Egg Hunt Activities will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 9:30 AM.

The congregation is asked to donate plastic eggs filled with wrapped candy. Please do not use hard candy or anything that may be a choking hazard for young children. A donation box for the eggs is located in the church office. Full details of the activities to follow!

SONSHINE CIRCLE meets Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 10:00 AM in the Library. Dot McLaurin will light the Christ candle. Carol Kimball will lead the Bible Study based on Lesson 7 of the Study book, An Abiding Hope, The Presence of God in Exodus and Deuteronomy. Afterwards, we will adjourn to a local restaurant for a meal and continued fellowship.

Lenten Lunches will be held April 2, 9, 16 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, St. Angela Hall (125 Park Avenue) 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM. The lunches are free, but donations are accepted to defray the cost of paper goods used for the meal. Come to the lunches and enjoy fellowship with other Christians from our community.

There we will see art come to life through the performance of their Living Gallery presentation of LOOKING UNTO JESUS. Cost is $11.00 for the ticket + $9.00 to ride on the church bus. If you want to go and have not reserved a ticket, please call Phil Lockard (649.0473), he will see if additional tickets are available. April 24 - 5:00 PM - On this Thursday we will go Out-to-Dinner together for an evening of fellowship and good food. We will be eating at DeShawn’s Fish House located behind the Clearwater Shopping Center. Cost is the price of your meal. Deadline is April 20.

From the Servant Song

Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you; pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant, too.

We are pilgrims on a journey, we are trav’lers on the road; we are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.

l will hold the Christ light for you in the nighttime of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.

I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh I’ll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow “Til we’ve seen this journey through”.

Stephen Ministers are trained to be good listeners. This is a confidential relationship. Do you need to share your load and let a Stephen Minister hold the Christ light for you? If so, contact Stephen Leader Lisa Lader (642-6840 or cell 439-2004), Dr. Christopher Crotwell or Parish Associate Rev. Judy Bowling (648-9574).

You may drop the items in the ACTS basket by the front door in the Narthex or in the basket by the church office. Monetary donations may be made by placing a check to SAPC in the offering plate and noting' for ACTS' on the check. Thanks for sharing with others!
