• It is important to note that 2015/2016 has been a very difficult financial year where the organisation operated at a zero budget.
• We therefore could not implement projects and programmes as per our year plan.
• We eventually received funding 4 months before the financial year end.

• There was adequate representation of provinces and all athletes showed extraordinary talent.
• Technical Officials also outdone themselves in carrying out their duties.

Elite ChampionshipsJuly 2015 EC - Grahamstown
• All provinces were represented, all provinces had full male teams and some had incomplete and some had no female teams at all.
• Provinces need to work harder in recruiting new female athletes in order to balance necessary quotas and this will also help us fulfil the constitutional mandate of S.A with regards to gender equality.

TOP SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPSDecember 2015 Wits University
• SRSA featured us in their Annual Top Schools Programme.
• All expenses were taken care of by SRSA, BUT still, provinces failed to attend, and those who did attend did not have full teams.
• A squad of 14 boxers were selected to form part of the Vision 2022 Commonwealth Games Programme.
• These boxers converged to P.E-Eastern Cape Academy of Sport for Physiological and Psychological Evaluation and Support.

WOMEN TALENT IDENTIFICATION Feb 2016 LIMPOPO-Malamulele
• Main objective of this tournament was to uplift underperforming and almost non-existent provinces when it comes to the representation of female boxers.
• Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.
• The championship was driven by the Women Commission and it was successful.

Pre-Test Match-MANDELA CUPFeb 2016 Port Elizabeth
• With the assistance of the NMM Municipality, a Nelson Mandela Cup Pre-Test Match was held in Port Elizabeth.
• All provinces brought the agreed upon number of athletes.
• The results proved that an event of this nature can be materialized.

• All nine provinces were well represented.
• Athletes showed improvement in performance.
• Some of these boxers will be included in the Vision 2022 Programme, as well as the AU Region Five Games, which will be held in Angola in Dec.

• We had 5 male and 1 female boxers that participated in these games.
• Performance was satisfactory, and we obtained 1 bronze and 1 silver medal.

• We had 7 male boxers and 1 female boxers.
• 1 male attended the camp but had health complications and could not go to Cameroon.
• The female boxer could not go, in lieu of personal reasons.
• The teams’ performance showed that they were well prepared for the competition.
• They obtained 1 gold and 2 bronze medals.

2015/2016 financial year was a remarkably exciting year as we have achieved all our targeted goals, but 2016/2017 has been a year of difficulty for our organisation as we could not achieve our targeted
goals due to financial constraints, but we soldiered on.

NELSON MANDELA CUP
• This is an international tournament which is going to be held annually, where all AIBA member countries will be invited to attend.
• This tournament was blessed by the Nelson Mandela Metro Municipality as well as AIBA.
• The Pre Test was done in the beginning of 2016, then the first tournament was held successfully in Port Elizabeth - July 2016.

• AUSC GAMES
• These games are organised biannually by the Olympic Committee. All countries that fall under Region 5 participated in these games.
• Our youth team that was selected during the Junior and Youth Championship that took place in Cape Town.
• The athletes that were selected presented us very well and retained our first position.

• ZONE 4 CHAMPIONSHIP
• This is the annual championship held in Zone 4, attended by all countries that are in this zone as per AFBC demarcations.
• This championship was not a success compared to the other years since 75% of the member countries did not attend due to different reasons stated by them.
• Only South Africa, Zimbabwe and Angola that participated in this championship.
• Our athletes also represented us well in this competition

COMMISSIONS WORKSHOP
• On the 30th March to the 2nd April 2017 a commissions workshop was conducted.
• The main purpose of the workshop was for the commissions to come up with strategies for their respective commissions.
• We also had members from Swaziland that attended this workshop.

General Meeting on the 2nd of April 2016 in East London; conforms to the constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
• Clause 1.3 of SANABO Constitution refers;

• Clause 6.2.5 of SANABO Constitution refers;
• 6.2.5 to apply annually to be a member of SASCOC and to abide by their Constitution, Rules and Regulations (provided that they do not conflict with the AIBA Regulations), as well as to affiliate to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and/or any other national or international sports body as the General Council upon the recommendation of the national executive may decide. To cooperate with SASCOC, in particular as regards the participation of AOB BOXERS in all Multi-Code Games and Events (provided that such games and events are held in accordance with the AIBA Regulations).

• Clause 6.2.5 of SANABO Constitution refers;
• This Constitution may be altered or varied, at any time, by the Members in General Meeting, upon a majority vote of not less than 75%(seventy-five per centum) of the total votes of the Members, whose representatives are present and entitled to vote at that time provided not less than 21 (twenty-one) working days written notification of such Meeting, together with a copy of a proposed resolution/s.

SANABO has no sponsor and not because of a lack of trying. Potential sponsors believe they get more TV and other media exposure with professional boxing.
SRSASRSA does provide (limited) funding on an annual basis. The problem is that the funds are always received too late to spend the amount of money before the end of the financial year.

• The Vuka Sidlale is a Inter ProvincialSeries that will be staged in two venues(EC and GAU) on fort-nightly basis.
• Each venue will host 18 tournaments culminating to the finals (staged in one venue)

• As an Executive we have noted a great need to now focus on training of our own active athletes as we have noted that majority of whom that have come through our ranks continue to struggle in the outside competitive world. We have lost some boxers to the scourge of the outside challenges.
• Through the intervention and assistance of SASCOC’s ADECO Programme which assist all our athletes with Life Skills. It is our view that our current Provincial & National Athletes be placed on such a programme which will assist them with the future needed skills.

• Clubs remain the basic unit of the organization.
• There are currently clubs managed by individuals and communities through out the country and are registered in Local Boxing Structure and in turn to the District and Provincial Structures.
• All our boxers are members of clubs.
• Provinces continue to ask that as a National body to assist them in staging inter clubs tournaments and leagues to ensure that there is continuous participation of our boxers especially the juniors and youth.

• Only in certain Local Municipalities that clubs are supported by transport to attend various tournaments and some clubs tend to miss out on the opportunity.
• It is imperative that as an organization we support these local tournaments as they also serve as a base for Talent Identification for our National and International Junior and Youth Championships.

OPERATION VICTORY LAP
• A programme to be jointly coordinated by SRSA, Defence Force, SASCOC and SANABO
• The programme aims to revisit the existing MOU between SASCOC & Defence Force.
• Recruitment of Boxers aged 18-21 between 2015, 2016 & 2017 and they be placed at the various Military bases.
• The DG – SRSA engage the DG Defence force with an aim that at least 3 boxers over a period of 3 years are recruited by SANABO and are guaranteed a space at any Military base on condition that they meet the minimum intake requirements as set out at the Defence Force recruitment guidelines.

• The recruited boxers to sign an agreement with SANABO that they will remain within the Open Boxing ranks for a period of 8 years (two Olympic cycles).
