SONOMA COUNTY VINTNERS
2015 ANNUAL REPORT
WE ARE SONOMA COUNTYThe Sonoma County Vintners is the leading voice of Sonoma County wine,
dedicated to increasing the awareness and improving the quality image of our wines to consumers, media, and trade locally and globally.
WE ARE SONOMA COUNTY2015 was an exciting year for Sonoma County Vintners (SCV). We successfully launched the inaugural SONOMA COUNTY BARREL AUCTION and broke all previous records at the 2015 SONOMA WINE COUNTRY WEEKEND and THE SONOMA HARVEST WINE AUCTION. We collaborated with our Trio partners, SONOMA COUNTY TOURISM and SONOMA COUNTY WINEGROWERS to participate in SUPER BOWL 50 “SONOMA COUNTY TASTE OF SONOMA LOUNGE”, within one of the largest and most visible consumer events in the world. Our SONOMA SUMMIT and SONOMA IN THE CITY programs once again put SCV member wineries directly in touch with key trade and consumer audiences while our INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS featured multiple visits with groups from around the globe.
2015 also created new opportunities to advocate for Sonoma County, our member wineries, and regional partners locally, particularly in the area of EVENT and WINERY PERMITTING. All combined with the continued collaboration and our strong working relationship within the Trio partners.
Moving forward into 2016, we are committed to expanding the visibility and exposure of Sonoma County wine and our member wineries – both in our own backyard and around the world. Our plans include building our BRAND MARKETING programs, providing a voice for our members as an ADVOCATE in the community, and continuing to advance our CHARITABLE role within our community. 2016 also includes a full schedule of member workshops & seminars as well as ongoing trade communications, media programs and other activities designed to promote Sonoma County, our regions and your brand.

LETTER FROM THE SCV BOARD PRESIDENT
The past year has been one of new beginnings and continued successes.
From setting new records for fundraising that supports the community to launching new ways of promoting Sonoma County’s wine industry, Sonoma County Vintners and our allies worked harder than ever. We continued making progress on key business and regulatory issues including permitting, while producing innovative tools that engaged consumers around the region and across the globe, including the first ever Barrel Auction event.
We promised that 2015 would be a year of change and a year full of new opportunities, and both of those statements ring true. Similarly, 2016 will bring much to celebrate and we will be faced with unique challenges, both as an organization and as an industry overall. For personal reasons, former Executive Director Carolyn Stark stepped down in January. She made valuable contributions during her brief time with us and we wish her the very best. With her chapter closing however, a new beginning follows, and we are thrilled to announce a talented successor in Jean Sessions Arnold, former president of Hanzell Vineyards and a wine industry advisor with decades of experience. Jean is a well respected and much admired leader from Sonoma County and we know she will take Sonoma County Vintners to new heights of achievement. Please join us in welcoming her aboard.
As we note in this report, in 2015 SCV set a new bar for performance, engagement and impact. Our marketing eorts, charitable programs and advocacy for the region are second to none, and our ability to elevate the Sonoma County brand and that of our members is unmatched. We strive for ongoing balance between creative programs that truly move the needle, and the hands on execution and elbow grease that are the hallmark of Sonoma County. Your involvement is what makes this region and its wines world class and thanks to you the future remains very bright.
Sincerely,
Caroline ShawPresident, Sonoma County Vintners

WE GIVE BACK
A vital part of our role in Sonoma County, is giving back to our community. The Sonoma County Vintners organization continues to expand our programs in an eort to strengthen the place we live and work.
WE ARE ADVOCATES
Sonoma County is the voice for the wine industry on issues facing the local economy, government and local issues important to our members and wine community. In 2015, SCV worked closely with our partners to develop a large industry-wide committee that included Sonoma County Winegrowers, United Winegrowers, and SCV members to clearly articulate a common voice to educate county policy makers on the importance of events in keeping our industry competitive.
NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SONOMA COUNTY In 2015, Sonoma Wine Country Weekend announced a new partnership with Community Foundation Sonoma County. This collaboration leverages the Community Foundation’s non-profit charitable giving expertise with the vision and generosity of the Sonoma County wine industry and Sonoma Wine Country Weekend, which has raised $20 million to date for local charities. As the event continues to grow, the philanthropic programs will multiply and this collaboration ensures the fundraising has the greatest possible community impact. FUND THE FUTURE
One of the most important auction lots of the Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction is Fund the Future which supports children’s “literacy”. Over $1.9 million was raised in 2015. The leadership and work of Honorary Co-Chairs, Joe Anderson and Mary Dewane, and Jean-Charles-Boisset and Culinary Chairs Terri and Mark Stark inspired the community and the crowd under the tent to generously contribute to this important initiative. Fund the Future has impacted over 5,300 kids and has provided funds to 14 literacy programs in 2015 all in support to increase the third grade literacy rate to 90% by 2018.
LAKE COUNTY FIRE RELIEFIn the fall of 2015, the Valley Fire, the third most destructive wildfire in California's history swept through southern Lake County. Numerous businesses were damaged, forests burned, and thousands were left suddenly homeless. In response, Sonoma County Vintners and its member wineries came together to assist with relief eorts, oering their time, resources and over $30,000 in donations.
