Fabric Requirements: Skill Level: Intermediate Fabric A – Taupe Scroll Hearts 9887-0161 1 yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x Width of Fabric (WOF) strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diago-nals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Cut seven 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding. Fabric B – Taupe Stars 9886-0138 ½ yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Fabric C – Gray Grid Texture 9872-0145 5/8 yard

· Cut three 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eighteen 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make seventy-two triangles.

Fabric D – Marshmallow 0733 Marshmallow ¾ yard

· Cut four 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twenty-seven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make (108) triangles.

Fabric E – Taupe Grid Texture 9872-0140 ½ yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Fabric F – Cream Feathers 9885-0171 ½ yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Fabric G – Cream Scroll Hearts 9887-0146 ½ yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Fabric H – Gray Stars 9886-0144 ½ yard

· Cut two 5 ¼” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eleven 5 ¼” squares. Cut each square across both diagonals to make forty-four triangles. (only 42 will be used)

Fabric I – Taupe Words 9874-0144 2 1/8 yards

· Cut four 8 ½” x 72 ½” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips. Backing – Taupe Words 9874-0144 3 2/3 yards

· Cut two 64” x WOF strips. Sew together and trim to make one 64” x 80” back. Block Assembly

1) Sew together one Fabric A triangle to one Fabric D triangle, paying attention to the triangle orientations, to make one AD trian-gle. Sew together one Fabric C triangle to one Fabric B triangle, paying attention to the triangle orientations, to make one CB trian-gle. Sew together the AD and CB triangles, long sides together, to make one Unit 1 square (Fig. 1). Trim square to measure 4 ½” square. Repeat to make six Unit 1 squares total.

2) Repeat Step 1 and refer to Figures 2-6 for fabric identification and placements to make six Unit 2 squares, six Unit 3 squares, six Unit 4 squares, six Unit 5 squares and six Unit 6 squares.

3) Sew one Unit 1 square to the left side of one Unit 2 square to make one Top Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew one Unit 3 square to the left side of one Unit 4 square to make one Middle Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew one Unit 5 square to the left side of one Unit 6 square to make one Bottom Block Row. Pay atten-tion to the unit orientations. Sew the Top Block Row and Bottom Block Row to the top and to the bottom of the Middle Block Row to make one Block One strip (Fig. 7). Repeat to make six Block One strips total.

4) Repeat Step 1 and refer to Figures 8-13 for fabric identification and placements to make six Unit 7 squares, six Unit 8 squares, six Unit 9 squares, six Unit 10 squares, six Unit 11 squares and six Unit 12 squares.

5) Sew one Unit 7 square to the left side of one Unit 8 square to make one Top Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orienta-tions. Sew one Unit 9 square to the left side of one Unit 10 square to make one Middle Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew one Unit 11 square to the left side of one Unit 12 square to make one Bottom Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew the Top Block Row and Bottom Block Row to the top and to the bottom of the Middle Block Row to make one Two One strip (Fig. 14). Repeat to make six Block Two strips total.

6) Repeat Step 1 and refer to Figures 15-20 for fab-ric identification and placements to make six Unit 13 squares, six Unit 14 squares, six Unit 15 squares, six Unit 16 squares, six Unit 17 squares and six Unit 18 squares.

7) Sew one Unit 13 square to the left side of one Unit 14 square to make one Top Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew one Unit 15 square to the left side of one Unit 16 square to make one Middle Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew one Unit 17 square to the left side of one Unit 18 square to make one Bottom Block Row. Pay attention to the unit orientations. Sew the Top Block Row and Bottom Block Row to the top and to the bottom of the Middle Block Row to make one Block Three strip (Fig. 21). Repeat to make six Block Three strips total.

Quilt Assembly (refer to the quilt layout while assem-bling the quilt top) 8) Sew together two Block One strips, two Block Two

strips and two Block Three strips to make one column strip. Repeat to make three column strips total.

9) Sew together four 8 ½” x 72 ½” Fabric I strips and three column strips, alternating them, to make the quilt top.

10) Layer and quilt as desired. 11) Sew the seven 2 ½” x WOF Fabric A strips together,

end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press.

12) Bind as desired.
