REGULATION DU GLUCOSE & DIABETE
• Les taux sanguins de glucose augmentent après des repas riches en glucides. Le foie est capable de produire du glucose indépendamment de la prise alimentaire.
• L’insuline est une hormone secrétée par les cellules ß du pancréas; dans le diabète de type 1, les cellules ß sont détruites; dans le diabète de type 2, les cellules ß ne sécrètent pas assez d’insuline.
• Pour utiliser le glucose comme carburant et donc diminuer les taux sanguins de glucose, la plupart des tissus périphériques (ex: muscle, tissu adipeux) ont besoin d’insuline.

• Failure to suppress cortisol levels at night.
24-H PROFILES OF HYPOTHALAMO-PITUITARY HORMONES AFTER ONE WEEK OF SLEEP RESTRICTION
These results suggest that the decrease in sleep quality and quantity during aging could be partly responsible for the age-related endocrine alterations.
Alterations that are similar to those of older subjects.

Le sommeil lent profond et la quantité d’hormone de croissance sécrétée au cours de la nuit diminuent de façon exponentielle au cours de la vie.
Certaines altérations hormonales rencontrées lors du vieillissement pourraient être la conséquence d’altérations de l’architecture du sommeil.
