PRINCIPAL’S NEWS Kindergarten Orientation Last week we had the lovely pleasure of meeting nine new gorgeous faces for Kindergarten next year. Our Year 5 students did a fantastic job of making their first day at ‘big school’ an enjoyable one and we look forward to having them visit for the next two weeks. Basketball Thank you goes to Mr Gerard for coaching our boys and girls basketball teams for last week’s Graham Brown Challenge. Mrs Knight reported that all students had a great day and tried their hardest. Thanks also to the kind parents who volunteered to help with transport on the day, it was greatly appreciated. The girls’ team placed third overall and the boys’ team came 5th. Well done, everyone! League Tag Last Thursday Year 3/4 participated in a League Tag Gala Day at Adcock Park. They played several games against other Central Coast schools and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thank you to Mr Mitchell for his lunch time coaching sessions, and for organising this opportunity for our students. Another thank you must go to the parents who helped with transport for the students. Gosford City Council Environment Awards This Friday K/1/2 has been invited to attend the Gosford City Council Environment Awards at Laycock Street Theatre to perform their play. We also have two students who will be receiving awards for their projects (we won’t reveal their names until after the ceremony so it can be a big surprise for them on the day). Good luck to our hard working Environment Group who are hoping to be named ‘Small School of the Year’ again – fingers crossed, everyone! Professional Learning Tomorrow and next Wednesday, all teaching staff will be participating in Professional Learning sessions around the new History Syllabus. Nicole Heazlewood, Curriculum Advisor in District Office, will be running the sessions which will replace one of the School Development Days at the end of the year. Assembly Next Friday, 27th November will be the final whole school assembly for the year. This will be the opportunity for Year 5 to give their Leadership Speeches for 2016. This assembly will begin at the earlier time of 1:45pm to allow enough time for all speeches to be heard. Please come along and listen to our future leaders. On that day we will also be presented with the Country Fair Schools’ Art Award and Year 6 will be holding their annual car wash. Year 7 Orientation The Orientation Day for Year 7 2016 is approaching soon. Students will spend the day at their high school getting to know the school and routines. The date for orientation days for all public high schools is Thursday, 3rd December. P&C News The P&C are having an end of year celebration at the Ourimbah RSL with a game of barefoot bowls and dinner. Please come along and celebrate the end of a great year. Contact Wendy Paxton if you are able to make it. The Somersby Cookbook is starting to take off and we are now in need of sponsorship, in
