Parish Council Meetings
Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, 8th July at 7.30 pm
in Scalford Primary School
Members of the public are welcome
Agendas and minutes are on the village notice boards Thursday before the meeting, or on the following website: www.leicestershireparishcouncils.org/scalford.
Ball Games
Further to last month’s report on balls being kicked into residents’ gardens, it has also
been reported that this is happening on New Street and South Close. Again, whilst not
wishing to put a dampener on children at play, it would be appreciated if care could be
taken to keep balls from people’s properties and gardens.
Overhanging Hedges
A reminder to residents that if you have a hedge/bush/or tree on your property that is
adjacent to the public highway/street, it is your responsibility to see that it does not over-
hang and obstruct either motorists’ vision or pedestrians using the streets.

EASTWELL CHURCH
MEDIEVAL TILING WORKSHOP
Many thanks for both Karen and Charlie for organising and presenting this exceptionally informative talk and demonstration - I, for one, didn’t think tiles could be quite so interesting. It was also great to be able to make your own. Apart from a dozen or so replica medieval tiles, the morning also raised a total of £102.00 for Eastwell church funds.
EASTWELL FLOWER FESTIVAL
This was a fabulous weekend, and the PCC are very grateful to all the flower arrangers who spent many long hours working in the church during the week before; it was all done so cheerfully and beautifully. The PCC would also like to acknowledge the support shown by everyone who came over the weekend - who stayed and chatted, and gave much appreci-ated positive feedback. The weekend raised a total profit of £773.50 for church funds.
EATON AFTERNOON TEA
Thank you to everyone who supported the afternoon tea on 14th June in St Denys’ church. A total of £191.64 was raised in aid of “School for Parents” (see ‘thank you’ notice in the neighbouring column).
SCALFORD METHODIST
CHURCH Scalford Methodist Church would like to thank
everyone for their support for the plant sale
held on Sunday, 7th June. A total of £640.00
was raised. Special thanks go to Andrea and
Phil for all their hard work.

JULY SERVICES During the Leicestershire school holidays we are experimenting with a new pattern of
worship services in our churches. The churchwardens invite their congregations to a pilgrimage around our beautiful medieval buildings. Each Sunday one 10.30 am service will be held, to which everyone is invited. When we worship together we give our very best back to almighty God and the churchwardens can have a break and sit in the congregation, the cake bakers have most weeks off and the singing is fantastic. If you need a lift, please ask your churchwardens; they await your phone call. There are also some community services around the villages and events for all to enjoy
and a trip to the tiny Six Hills Church where David and I will be leading a Songs of Praise service, and you are invited to join us (phone 01664 464600 to let us know you are coming).
