Some Things We Can Know


We can know by sight many thingsWe can know by deduction from

evidence.We can know things by faith.

Hebrews 11:1“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not

seen.”

I. We can know the truthJohn 8:31-32

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my

word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”


I. We can know the truthAll can know if we desire

John 7:17“If any man will do his will, he shall know

of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”


I. We can know the truthKnow the truth calls for obedience

I Peter 1:22-23“Who by him do believe in God, that

raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye

have purified your souls in obeying the truth…”


I. We can know the truthWe can know we are of the truth

I John 3:18-19“My little children, let us not love in word,

neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we

are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”


II. We can know the plan of salvation

It is as simple as 2+2=4Mark 16:16

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be

damned.”

We know repentance & confession are required but it is a very simple plan.



We know that baptism savesI Peter 3:21

“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting

away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward

God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”



We know that we know HimI John 2:3-4

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the

truth is not in him.”


III. We can know that God hears not sinners.

John 9:24, 31“Then again called they the man that was

blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a

sinner… Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper

of God, and doeth his will, him he hears.”



Notice the apostle’s statementI Peter 3:12

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto

their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”



The apostle John wroteI John 3:22

“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his

commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”


IV. We can know there is one church.

Christ built only one!Matthew 16:18

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my

church; and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it.”


IV. We can know there is one church.Christ purchased only one

Acts 20:28“Take heed unto yourselves, and to

all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which

He purchased with His own blood.” (ASV)



There is but one!Colossians 1:18

“And he is the head of the body, the church…”

Ephesians 4:4“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as

ye are called in one hope of your calling;”



He adds to only oneActs 2:47

“Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the

church daily those who were being saved.” (NKJV)



Christ saves only oneEphesians 5:23

“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the

church: and he is the savior of the body.”


V. We can know how to liveWalk in newness of life

Romans 6:4“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ

was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also

should walk in newness of life.”


V. We can know how to liveLive soberly, righteously, and godly

Titus 2:11-12“For the grace of God that brings salvation

hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly

lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present

world;”


V. We can know how to liveSet our affections on things above

Colossians 3:1-2“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where

Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not

on things on the earth.”


VI. We can know we must dieHebrews 9:27

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Only exception will be those living when Christ comes.

Not to set up His kingdom, but to take the kingdom home.

Ecclesiastes 9:5“For the living know that they shall die:

but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”


VI. We can know we must dieIt is the way of all the earth

I Kings 2:1-2“Now the days of David drew nigh that he

should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and

show thyself a man;”


VII. We can know judgment is coming

God has appointed a dayActs 17:30-31

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men

every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will

judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained…”



All will be judgedII Corinthians 5:10

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one

may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether

it be good or bad.”



We will be judged by His wordJohn 12:48

“He that rejects me, and receives not my words, hath one that judges him: the

word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”


We can know how to obey the gospel!1. Hear – Rom. 10:172. Believe – Heb. 11:63. Repent – Luke 13:3

4. Confess Christ – Acts 8:36-375. Be Baptized – Acts 2:38, 47

6. Remain faithful – Rev. 2:10
