About Rainbow Trout

Rainbow trout are originally from the Pacific coast but have inhabited New York’s waters since the 1870s. They are located in rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes. These fish are able to withstand a higher water temperature than the related brook trout. In New York, roughly 392,000 rainbow trout are placed in lakes and streams each spring.

Conclusion

Because trout generally face the current, it is advisable to work upstream when fishing for them. Fishing with flies requires the proper rod; an appropriate fly rod is roughly 7 to 9 feet long. A basic assortment of flies might include dry flies such as Light Cahill, Sulphur Dun, and Adams; wet flies such as Leadwing Coachman; and nymphs and streamers.

Finally, show courtesy when fishing by allowing room for others and keeping conversation volume at a pleasant level.
