AL GORE IS BUSY CREATING A RELIGION

OF SCIENCE

FORTUNATELY, THERE ARE STILL SOME OBJECTIVE SCIENTISTS WILLING TO SPEAK UP. THIS PRESENTATION DRAWS FREELY FROM: “YEAR OF GLOBAL COOLING”, DAVID DEMING, WASH TIMES, DEC 19, 2007 .

David Deming is a geophysicist, an adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis, and Associate Professor of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma.

CREATING A RELIGION OF

SCIENCE:

“The good news is we know what to do. The good news is, we have everything we need now to respond to the challenge of global warming. We have all the technologies we need, more are being developed, and as they become available and become more affordable when produced in scale, they will make it easier to respond. But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”

AL GORE, speech at National Sierra Club Convention, Sept. 9, 2005

CREATING A RELIGION OF

SCIENCE:

“The good news is we know what to do. … But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”

BUT AL,• Record LOW temperatures are being set all over the world. In 2007, hundreds of people died, NOT from global warming, but from COLD weather hazards.

• Carbon dioxide continues to build in the atmosphere, but the mean planetary temperature hasn't increased significantly for nearly nine years

“GLOBAL COLDING” IN 2007

BUT AL, :• Antarctica is getting colder• Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. • Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years

E.G. :• Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In NE Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941.

•In New Zealand, it was so cold that vineyards were endangered.

E.G. :• Last January, $1.42B of California produce was lost to a devastating five-day freeze. 1000’s of agricultural employees were thrown out of work. • In the wake of the freeze, California Gov. Schwarzenegger asked Pres. Bush to issue a disaster declaration.

E.G. :• In April, a killing freeze destroyed 95 percent of South Carolina's peach crop, and 90 percent of North Carolina's apple harvest. • At Charlotte, N.C., a record low temperature of 21o F. on April 8 was the coldest ever recorded for April.

E.G. :• On June 8, Denver recorded a new low of 31 degrees Fahrenheit. • Denver's temperature records extend back to 1872.

E.G. :• On Dec. 7, St. Cloud, Minn., set a new record low of minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. • On the same date, record low temperatures were also recorded in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

BUT:• Nov. 24, in Meacham, Ore., the minimum temperature was 12 degrees Fahrenheit colder than the previous record low set in 1952. • Dec. 4, in Seoul, Korea, the temperature was a record minus 5 degrees Celsius.

E.G. :• Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri are just emerging from a destructive ice storm that left at least 36 people dead and a million without electric power.

CREATING A RELIGION OF

SCIENCE:

“The good news is we know what to do. … But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”

BUT, ATTENTION TRUTHSEEKERS:• If you think any of the preceding facts can convert global warming zealots, don’t bet on it.• In 2005, a Canadian Greenpeace representative explained “global warming can mean colder, it can mean drier, it can mean wetter.” In other words, ALL weather variations are evidence for global warming.

ONE UNFORTUNATE ELEMENT:MEDIA HYPE & INCOMPETENCE

BEING WORRIED IS APPROPRIATE - - - -

BUT INSTEAD OF GLOBAL WARMING, WORRY ABOUT MEDIA HYPE AND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR PRESS.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

CREATING A RELIGION OF

SCIENCE:

“The good news is we know what to do. … But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”

UNFORTUNATELY:

• Global warming has long since passed from scientific hypothesis to the realm of pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo. Ref: “Year of Global

Cooling”, Wash Times, Dec 19, 2007

“GLOBAL COLDING” IN 2007

HOPEFULLY, THE PENDULUM IS STARTING TO SWING BACK TOWARDS SCIENTIFIC

OBJECTIVITY:

U.S. SENATE REPORT: “Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007 ”, December 20, 2007

This report is in the spirit of enlightenment philosopher Denis Diderot who reportedly said, "Skepticism is the first step towards truth."

PERHAPS MR. GORE IS RELYING TOO MUCH ON “THE-SKY-IS-FALLING !” CROWD.
