2.30pm – Screening of DAFF 2018 shortlisted films. (First Reel) IFCO rating G and PG films will be screened.

4.30pm – Screening of DAFF 2018 shortlisted films. Over 18s only.

6.15pm – DAFF 2018 Award Ceremony and Festival closing.

Ballot papers for the Audience Choice Award will be distributed at the beginning of the festival. The Audience Choice Award will be given to the short film on the screening list that receives the highest number of votes.

We are delighted to welcome Fabian Erlinghäuser as our special guest. At our very first festival in 2011, Fabian gave an awesome comic book workshop.Fabian has 18 years industry experience at the Academy Award-nominated studio Cartoon Saloon, where he works as Head of Animation on projects ranging from feature films and short films to TV-shows. He was the Animation Director on The Breadwinner, the Saloon’s Oscar nominated feature collaboration with producer Angelina Jolie.His credits include Animation Director and 1st Assistant Director of the European Film Of The Year 2015, Song Of The Sea, which was nominated for multiple Annie Awards and an Academy Award. Fabian was also the animation supervisor of Cartoon Saloon’s breakout feature The Secret of Kells, which cemented Cartoon Saloon’s reputation for creating artistically inventive movies.He currently co-directs Dorg Van Dango, a new TV-show he created with Breadwinner helmer Nora Twomey. It will be released in late 2019.Before joining Cartoon Saloon in 2000, Fabian graduated with a ‘Distinction’ in Classical Animation from BCFE in Dublin.Apart from Cartoon Saloon, Fabian teaches character animation at colleges such as IADT in Dún Laoghaire; The Animation Workshop in Denmark; and the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany. DUBLIN ANIMATION Welcome to the 8th year of Dublin Animation Film Festival!

We are delighted to be back at the Pavilion Theatre for 2018.Looking back at our first festival in 2011, we received 45 short film entries and the screenings took place in a former church on the Main Street in Blackrock village. A children’s comic book workshop was held in the Blackrock Shopping Centre by an animator named Fabian Erlinghäuser and six trophies were presented to the winners!

We are delighted to welcome Fabian Erlinghäuser back to the festival, this time as the Special Guest for 2018. Fabian was the Director of Animation for Cartoon Saloon’s Academy Award nominated feature ‘The Breadwinner’. We would like to congratulate Fabian and the team at Cartoon Saloon and wish them continued success.We are also delighted to welcome Tim Allen, leading animator of the feature film ‘Isle of Dogs’ who will be giving a masterclass at the DLR LexIcon on the 26 October 2018. TIM ALLEN

A special welcome for Tim Allen from the 2018 Dublin Animation Film Festival. Tim will be giving a masterclass at the DLR LexIcon on Friday, 26 October. We hope this will be the first of many visits to Dublin Animation Film Festival.

A stop motion animator for 18 years, Tim Allen was a key animator on Wes Anderson’s latest film Isle of Dogs. Tim’s other film credits include Fantastic Mr Fox, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, the Academy Award winning Peter and the Wolf and the Academy Award nominated My Life as a Zucchini. Tim was Animation Supervisor on The Magic Piano and the stop motion Club Penguin specials for Disney.Tim’s TV credits include Fireman Sam, Postman Pat plus Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts for Aardman Animations.Tim has an extensive background in teaching animation techniques for trainee animators of all experience levels. Be sure to say hello to him when he is at the Festival after-party at the Forty Foot Bar on Saturday!
