Complete the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) course Principles of Management in MSW Management Systems and pass the exam. 2. Complete one of the following SWANA courses and successfully pass the corresponding exam: • Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) • Manager of Bioreactor Landfill • Managing MSW Recycling Systems • Managing MSW Collection Systems • Construction and Demolition (C&D) • Managing Transfer Station Systems • Managing Composting Programs 3. Complete the following CTAS Category A courses: • County Operating Budget • Capital Budgeting • Hiring and Firing • Wage and Hour Laws • Risk Management • Legal Aspects of Personnel Management 4. Earn 8 hours from any of the following CTAS Category B courses: • Dynamics of Leadership (online): 3 hours • Energizing and Empowering Employees (online): 2 hours • Ethical Decision Making (online): 3 hours • Leading rough Change (online): 3 hours • Difficult People in the Workplace (online): 3 hours • Delegation Basics (online): 2 hours • Why Diversity Matters (online): 2 hours • Overcoming the Challenges of Change (online): 2 hours • Sexual Harassment Awareness for Employees (online): 2 hours • Understanding Work Styles (classroom): 4 hours • Giving Employee Feedback (classroom): 4 hours • Change Management (classroom): 4 hours • Conflict Management (classroom): 4 hours • Five Essentials of Leadership (classroom): 4 hours 5. Recertification — In conjunction with the SWANA three-year recertification cycle: • Earn 30 hours of training in approved solid waste areas — training sessions at a solid waste conference, TDEC and/or SWANA Landfill Operators course. • Earn 12 hours of either Category A or Category B in the County Officials Certificate Training Program (COCTP).
