SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE2018-2019

The enclosed solid waster and recycling schedule 2018-2019 will continue to implement the three (3) piece bulk collection rule on your second collection day of the week. Reclycling collection will continue on Wednesday as code enforcment officers will enforce recycling compliance throughout the Township.

Effective January 1, 2018 all computer and televisions will not be collected curbside. It will be the resposibility of the residents to bring these items to the Department of Public Works facility at 274 Hillside Avenue for proper disposal.

The Hillside Public Works Department will be available if there are any questions or concerns. Please feel free to call (973)926-1110

RULES FOR STORAGE AND COLLECTIONSOLID WASTE

Regular household garbage are all items considered not to be regular recyclables. Residents should place containers at the curb no earlier than 12 hours before collection. Collections of all residential and designated commercial locations within the township shall be made between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Containers must be plastic or metal variety with tight fitting lids to prevent spillage or leakage.

BULK WASTE COLLECTION EVERY WEEK ON SECOND COLLECTION DAY OF WEEK, LIMITED TO THREE (3) ITEMS PER COLLECTION, PER HOUSEHOLD

The collection of bulk waste from residential curbside consists of: (examples) major household appliances, fixtures, ovens, refrigerators, washing machines, dryer, storm windows, window screens and hardcover books. Latex paint if solidified in an opened can, will be collected.

Note: Hot water boilers and heaters require a plumbing permit. These items will not be collected unless such permit has been issued by the Building Department (973) 926-5100.

Tree branches should not weigh more than fifty (50) pounds, four (4) feet in length, and can be no more than ten (10) inches in diameter including trunks and stumps.

RECYCLING ENTIRE TOWNSHIP, EVERY WEDNESDAY ALTERNATING COMMINGLED AND NEWSPAPER/CARDBOARD, EVERY OTHER WEEK (REFER TO SCHEDULE)

Place aluminum cans, steel cans, unbroken glass and plastic bottles (milk, soda, bleach and detergents bottles) rinsed out in one reusable container with recycling sticker on front. Newspaper can be placed in brown paper bags tied in bundles. Corrugated cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, telephone and paperback books should be tied or bundled.

Only motor oil will be accepted at the Public Works yard in its proper receptacle.

Newspaper can be placed in brown paper bags tied in bundles. Corrugated cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, telephone and paperback books should be tied or bundled. NO RECYCLABLES SHOULD BE PLACED IN PLASTIC BAGS.

Note: Motor oil will be accepted at the Public Works yard in its proper receptacle.

Recycling stickers can be obtained at the Hillside Department of Public Works at no charge.
