In consistency with the vision of being the leading company or thecompany recognized n all the markets where we are present, at theend of the year 2008 the Board of Directors resolved to go frombeing a local company to being a regional company. To accomplishthis, it took the big leap of purchasing three of the most importantwelding products companies in South America: SOLDADURASWESTARCO LTDA., SOLDADURAS MEGRIWELD S.A. in Colombia andCOMERCIALIZADORA DE ELECTRODOS DE VENEZUELA, COMELVENC.A., which will allow it to go, in a first stage, from a company of 14000 tons to over 35 000 ton/year in manufacturing and sales ofwelding products.
In this first year of strengthening of both cultures (the Peruvian andthe Colombian), we think that the synergies that are taking placeand will continue to take place in upcoming months will be positivenot only for the organization but for the entire market.
