• Hypermedia is not constrained to be text-based. It can include other media, e.g., graphics, images, and especially the continuous media -- sound and video.

• The World Wide Web (WWW) is the best example of hypermedia applications.

• An “umbrella” term that encompasses both the web and CD/DVD multimedia.

• The Prefix “hyper” suggest interactivity and the idea of navigating from one chunk of information to another

• Also “media” suggest multiple content types.

• Multimedia means that computer information can be represented through audio, video, and animation in addition to traditional media (i.e., text, graphics drawings, images).

• Hypermedia can be considered as one of the multimedia applications.
