Vacancies

The Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT) is a Statutory Board currently

functioning within the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research. The Institute

is mandated with accelerating introduction of modern technologies into the country in the field of

Electronics, Communications, Information Technology, Robotics and Space Technologies through

Research and Development, Training, Technological transfer.

The Institute calls for applications from suitably qualified personnel from citizens of Sri Lanka for

the following positions.

01) Deputy Director General (Administration & Finance)

HM 2-2 Category

Job Profile

The candidate shall,

Under the general direction and guidance of the Director General & CEO,

- Plan, organize, lead, monitor and control all administrative matters pertaining to the areas

including, but not limited to General Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Establishment,

Procurement and Industrial Relations in conformance with the applicable Acts, Regulations,

Government Circulars, and Board Resolutions in a manner that best suits the overall operational

and developmental interests of the institution, and

- Function as the Secretary to the Board of Governors of ACCIMT

The candidate should have extensive exposure to the administrative practices, rules and

regulations, in the public sector, and should be a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with

a flare for industrial relations.

Qualifications :

(a) Degree from a recognized University or an Institution recognized by the University Grants

Commission;

And

Postgraduate Degree in Management/Business Administration/Public Administration or a

relevant field from a recognized University or an Institution recognized by the University Grants

Commission.

And

Minimum of 18 years of administrative/managerial experience, out of which not less than 05 years

should be at Senior Managerial level with a proven track record of ability to lead and direct multi-

disciplinary teams and, proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources

in a Government Department, State Corporation, Statutory Board or a reputed Mercantile

Establishment.

Note :- SLAS Class I officers would be considered on Secondment basis.

Salary Code and the Monthly Salary Scale:

HM 2-2 : Rs. (44,755 – 12 x 1,310 – 60,475)

Present Gross Salary is Rs. 71,506/= (including all allowances approved by government).

Age : Should be not less than 35 years and not more than 55 years.

02) Senior Research Engineer

HM 1-3 Category

Specialization : (Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, Space Technology Applications,

RS/GIS, Robotics, Industrial Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering)

Qualifications

External

(a) Should posses a four year full time Degree in Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a

Engineering a relevant Engineering discipline

(Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunication/Computer/Mechanical/Earth Resources or a

relevant field) awarded from a University of Sri Lanka, recognized by the Institution of

Engineer Sri Lanka for the award of Associate Membership; or

(b) Should have fully completed and passed all parts of the examination relevant to the prescribed

Engineering Discipline held by the Institution of the Engineers of Sri Lanka by which the

candidate qualifies for the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka;

or

(c) Should have fully completed and passed all parts of the Engineering Council Examination of

the United Kingdom or its affiliated institution in the prescribed relevant Engineering

Disciplines which fulfills the academic requirements recommended by the Engineering

Council of the United Kingdom to obtain the Chartered Status of an Engineer: or

(d) Should have obtained an Engineering Degree, equivalent to the Degree of Bachelor of Science

in Engineering offered by any other University of an Institution recognized by the University

Grants Commission by which the candidate qualifies for the Associate membership of the

Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

And

PhD Degree in relevant Field; or

Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer and Corporate Membership of the Institution

of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) or Professional registration a Chartered Engineer of the

Engineering Council of UK and Corporate Membership of a Professional Institution of

Engineering in the relevant discipline; or

Postgraduate Degree (Masters) in

Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunication/Computer/Mechanical or a relevant field from a

recognized University or an Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.

And

Minimum of 13 years of experience in Research/Managerial level after obtaining first degree

with a proven track record in a Corporation, Board or a reputed Mercantile Establishment with

a PhD Degree; or

Minimum of 15 years of experience in research/Managerial level after obtaining first degree

with a proven track record in a Corporation, Board or a reputed Mercantile Establishment after

obtaining first degree with a Postgraduate Degree (Masters) or Professional registration a

Chartered Engineer.

Internal :

A minimum 5 years of satisfactory service in a post of Research Engineer, Electronic Engineer,

Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, (AR 2) category of the Arthur C Clarke Institute for

Modern Technologies.

Salary code and Monthly salary scale :-

HM 1-3 : Rs. (41,745 – 15 x 1,100 – 58,245)

Present Gross salary is Rs. 67,894/= (Including all allowances approved by government).

Age : should be not less than 30 years and not more than 55 years.

03). Senior Electronic Engineer

HM 1-3 Category

Qualifications

External


Engineering a relevant Engineering discipline



Engineer Sri Lanka for the award of Associate Membership; or




or




Council of the United Kingdom to obtain the Chartered Status of an Engineer: or

(d) Should have obtained an Engineering Degree, equivalent to the Degree of Bachelor of

Science in Engineering offered by any other University of an Institution recognized by the

University Grants Commission by which the candidate qualifies for the Associate

membership of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

And

PhD Degree in relevant Field; or


of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) or Professional registration a Chartered Engineer of the

Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunication/Computer/Mechanical or a relevant field from a

recognized University or an Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.

04) Research Engineer

AR 2 Category

A minimum of 08 years satisfactory service in a post of Research Engineer (AR I) category of

the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies with a PhD Degree in the relevant Field

; or

A minimum of 10 years satisfactory service in a post of Research Engineer (AR I) category of

the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies with a relevant Postgraduate Degree

(Masters) or Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Note ; Research publications relevant to the respective discipline will be an added

Qualification.

05) Systems Engineer

prescribed Engineering Discipline held by the Institution of the Engineers of Sri Lanka by

of the United Kingdom or its affiliated institution in the prescribed relevant Engineering




Science in Engineering offered by any other University of an Institution recognized by the

PhD Degree in the relevant Field; or

Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer and Corporate Membership of the

Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) or Professional registration as a Chartered

Engineer of the Engineering Council of UK and Corporate Membership of a Professional

Institution of Engineering in the relevant discipline ; or


Electronics/Electrical/Elecommunication/Computer/Mechanical/Space Technology or


Grants Commission.

And

Minimum of 08 years of experience in Research/Managerial level after obtaining first

(a) Four year B.Sc. Special Degree in Physics/Astronomy/Space Science/Surveying

Science/Geomatics from a recognized University or an Institution recognized by the

University Grants Commission ; or

(b) Three year General Degree in Physical Science with Physics/Astronomy/Space

Science/surveying Science/Geomatics as a subject from a recognized University or an

Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission with

M.Sc / M. Phil. Degree in Astronomy/Space Science/Surveying Science/Geomatics or


Grants Commission. (Preference will be given candidates possessing a M. Phil)

Management Assistant – Technical Category.

Note – Post of Technical Assistant are to be re-designated shortly, as the Engineering

Qualifications

Having passed the G C E (O/L) examination in six subjects in one sitting with credit passes

for four subjects including:

I Sinhala/Tamil

II English Language

III Mathematics

And

Having passed three subjects other than the ‘General Paper’ at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination

in science stream.

And

Having successfully completed a Diploma or certificate course not below the National

Vocational Qualification (N.V.Q.) level 5 in the field of Electronic/Electrical Engineering

conducted by a recognized institute of technological training.
