RULES OF THE SPORT (OFFENSE)

• Nine people on the batting order

• Unlimited Pinch runners for Catcher or Pitcher

• If using for anyone else, if used more than twice that person must stay in the game.

• Any one player can play infield and have a designated hitter

• While the pitcher is pitching and has released the ball the batter can no longer leave the white box

• Unless endangered by the pitch

• After the ball has left the pitcher's hand, the base runner is able to leave the base and choose to steal

RULES OF THE SPORT (DEFENSE)

• Only nine people in the infield at a time.• Six infield, three outfielders

• Pitcher may hit as many people, until ruled intentional.

• If catcher drops third strike, the runner is allowed to run for first base if not tagged.

• If the is less than two outs any infield fly will be called by the umpire and batter will be called out.• Base runners is allowed to run if base is

TERMSInning: an inning last until the defense gets the outs

Bunt: an attempt to tap the ball instead of swinging

Steal: The runner advances to the next base

RBI: Run Batted In

DP: Designated Pitcher

DH: Designated Hitter

ERA: Earned run average; number of runs a pitcher lets in

Error: A defensive error that allows a base runner to advance further

Fair Ball: Ball hit into field of play

Fowl ball: ball hit into unfair territory

Fly Ball: A ball hit into the air

Fielders Choice: Fielder has choice on which base to make a play at

Force Out: When

Homerun: When a player advances all the way around the bases in one at-bat, typically when ball is hit over the fense

Grand Slam: When bases are loaded and all players score in one at-bat

‘13-’14 AFTER THE SEASON RECORD

Districts: two for twoThe girls beat Webberville and Potterville

Regionals: one for two The girls won the first game and lost

to Fowler

DISTRICTS Morrice started their day out strong with a win over Webberville, then finished the day with another win over Potterville! The girls then accepted their individual metals.

Morrice won the first round game for regionals but sadly fell short of a win against Fowler.
