Socket outlet switch S 563 – Controlling and monitoring GAMMA wave devices centrally via radio You can use the socket outlet switch S 563 to control and monitor GAMMA wave devices centrally via Gigaset DECT telephones. Examples of such devices include lights, blinds and smoke alarms.
The GAMMA wave devices can be controlled and monitored both from inside the house and from outside.
You can operate the socket outlet switch S 563 indoors via the keypad of a Gigaset Home Control-compatible handset. You can do this from the GAMMA wave menu on your handset. You will find a list of Gigaset Home Control-compatible phones on page 23.
You can likewise access the GAMMA wave menu from outdoors via the keys using tone dialling or via SMS.
Special events, such as a smoke alarm, can be reported both to connected handsets and to external telephones via the telephone network (SMS or voicemail).
In addition, you can define and activate so-called scenes from the GAMMA wave menu. Using scenes, you can conveniently manage a variety of devices at the same time. For example, you can pull down all the blinds in your house and turn off all lights.
Starting up the Socket outlet switch S 563The package includes a socket outlet switch S 563 and this user guide.
Connecting the Socket outletswitch S 563 Plug the socket outlet switch S 563 into a non-fused earthed socket. To avoid unnecessary radio interference, the socket outlet switch S 563 should be assembled in such a way that the supply line for the connected device does not run over the housing.
Notes:– The transmission range can be influenced
in some cases by structural conditions (e.g. reinforced concrete) or electrical/electronic sources of interference.
– A minimum distance of 0.5 m must be maintained between the socket outlet switch S 563 and other GAMMA wave equipment.
– Although the radio transmission takes place in the secure 868 MHz frequency range, the possibility of interference with the radio transmission cannot be excluded.
– Radio transmission is not suitable for security applications.

Making settingsThere are a number of settings you have to make before you can use GAMMA wave devices with the socket outlet switch S 563. In any case, you have to define the devices that you would like to control and monitor.
When making settings, it is recommended to follow the sequence below:1. Create new rooms (page 9) so that
you can then assign devices to them.2. Create new devices (page 10) and
assign them to the rooms you created.3. Create new scenes (page 11) and
assign them devices as well as the required status. You can then control a number of devices conveniently at the same time.
4. Administer messages (page 13) that are to be sent when certain events occur.
5. Administer an external call (page 15) to regulate external access to the GAMMA wave menu.
Administering roomsYou can create a total of up to 10 rooms to which you can assign the individual devices (see “Creating a new device” page 10). The room no room is created at the factory. You can replace this name at any time with a name of your choice.

Administering devicesYou can administer at most 41 devices (20 sensors, 20 actuators and the local socket).
Sensors are used exclusively to establish a status (e.g. window is open or closed). Actuators also have the characteristic that their status can be changed (e.g. switch on/off light).
You have to define names and assigned rooms for these devices. In order to be able to use sensors meaningfully, additional messages must be defined for them.
Creating a new deviceSettings ¢ Devices ¢ <New Device>¤ Making multiple-line entries (see user
guide for your handset).
Name:Press §Edit§, enter the device name (max. 16 characters) and press §OK§ to save the changes.
Room:Press the r key to choose the room to which the device is to be assigned.
Typ:Select r Actuator or Sensor to choose the device type (device type see page 10).
¤ Press §Save§ to save the changes. You will then be asked if you would like to link the device immediately. Press §No§ to link the device later or §Yes§ to link the device immediately. In this case, continue as described below.
Linking/unlinking devicesThe link process allows you to set up the connection between a device that you are linking and the socket outlet switch S 563.
The unlink process closes the connection with a linked device again.
The local socket is a special device. It is always available and cannot itself be
linked or unlinked. Instead, the link or unlink process relates to the connection of other GAMMA wave sensors or switches to the local socket (see also page 18).
Settings ¢ Devices ¢ Choose a device¢ §©§
Depending on the device you select, you will be offered one of the following functions as a first menu option:
¤ Choose the function offered and then follow the instructions shown on the display. Pay particular attention to the sequence in which the actions are to be performed. This depends on the type of selected device (Actuator or Sensor).
The result of the link/unlink process (successful or not) is indicated by a message on the display.

Notes: – A device can only be linked successfully if
its type (Actuator or Sensor) matches the type defined in the GAMMA wave menu.
– Start the linking/unlinking on the respective device being linked/unlinked in accordance with the user guide for the device in question.
– An entry remains even after a device has been successfully unlinked. A new device can be linked.

Connecting the device to the local socketBy connecting the local socket to other devices (sensors or switches), it is possible not only to switch on/off the socket using the handset but also by radio using these devices.
This connection can also be set up using the normal GAMMA wave link process as an alternative to using a handset for the link (page 10).
Requirement: The device is not linked. (If the device is already linked, the connection is deleted again.)¤ Press the control button (page 1) on
the socket outlet switch for at least 10 seconds.
¤ The status LED on the socket outlet switch flashes slowly.
¤ Start the link process on the device being linked as described in its user guide.
Deleting a connectionYou can delete a connection in the local socket by relinking a device that has already been linked.¤ Proceed as described in "Connecting
the device to the local socket":
Deleting all connectionsYou can delete all connection information in the local socket at the same time.¤ Press the control button of the socket
outlet switch for at least 10 seconds. The status LED of the socket outlet switch flashes slowly.
¤ Press the control button of the socket outlet switch again for at least 10 seconds. The status LED of the socket outlet switch flashes quickly for 1 second and then extinguishes.
Notes: – Once successfully linked, the status LED of
the socket outlet switch flashes quickly for 1 second and then extinguishes.
