Why did Amazon pull the plug on WikiLeaks and will it bite them?
The way I understand it, some senator called Amazon and told them to ban Wikileaks from using their service, which they did. This sounds an awful lot like "telephone rule" in Soviet Union. Amazon should only ban services that violate their ToS, and it is unclear if Wikileaks violated them. How is Amazon now suddenly directly accountable to a senator?
Amazon should know a thing or two about free speech, given it sells books which probably have more embarrassing material than wikileaks cables. Will this (applying censorship in their hosting services because someone doesn't like what's hosted) become an issue to them? What's their response?

Those interested in more detail on our WikiLeaks decision can read more about it here - Werner Vogels, CTO @ Amazon.com
The material was pulled because it violates their terms of services: WikiLeaks does not hold copyright in the materials, distributing the data may be illegal, and could reasonably be considered dangerous.
