Facebook is one of the most popular social media on internet. Founded in 2004 only for use in group of student in Harvard University, now facebook rules online social media community. Background

It is been observed that though facebook has so many advantages but the disadvantages are causing some serious problem. We need to research the same and try to avoid or resolve these problems especially faced by youths.

Statement

Effects of facebook on youth; its disadvantages and solution

Literature Review

As stated by Sarah (2011) that the main advantage of social network is it is very low cost. Facebook gained popularity and by making people come closer to each other. However because of negligence, users can face problems from the facebook and other social networking sites. Someone's secrets can become public.

In his findings Dow Jones (2012) states that Facebook is too much addicting! Facebook is too much addicting! This addiction frequently kills most valuable time of user. He further says, using Facebook for sometimes and for important communication is not bad but when someone wastes his valuable time then it becomes really critical.

Abram (2013) says that it been observed and researched that most of the youths don’t realize the negative impact of facebook on their life. Youths start losing their interest in their studies and surroundings. They start interacting more with their facebook friends than real world people. Addiction to facebook also caused health problems like becoming fat and weak eyesight etc.

In order to know reactions and to conduct research how face book is affecting life of youths, I designed a questionnaire. I kept in mind the privacy of youth before taking details.

Questionnaire:

1. You age :

2. Do you go to school / College :

3. Do you have facebook account : Yes No

If Yes;

4. Usually how much time you spend on facebook :

5. What is your major activity on facebook:

Chatting sharing messages viewing profiles Searching friends

7. What you like the most being on facebook or spending time with

freinds?

Recommendations

McCartney (2012) suggests that Facebook users have to know who you are. If you’re a student, you should know how to control your time. Try togive more importance to studies and dedicate

Avoid sharing all your personal data on facebook. Spend time in creative work and study rather than wasting unnecessary time on facebook.
