matter
A Few Golden Rules• Every college student should have a LinkedIn site• Twitter is a valuable tool in job search and company
research• If you don’t like to use social media or are not tech savvy,
you need to get over that• A negative digital image can result in not being contacted
by a recruiter• Add professional content to social media sites: blogs,
slideshows, video presentations• Get rid of negative posts and content.• Set your privacy settings; if your information is viewable
to the world, you can’t complain if someone finds your information online
Don’t Forget• To upload a professional photo on your LinkedIn
page. Good idea on Twitter as well.• With LinkeIn, edit your public profile URL: click on
your thumbnail photo (top right), select Privacy Settings, click on Profile/Helpful Hints/Edit Public Profile, then edit your Public Profile URL (top right of the page)
Professional Image• Social media can be fun, but remember that your
professional image is on display as well
