I agree with the statement and that smartphones have a positive and a negative affect on the issues set in the statement.

I will be discussing the positive aspects of the discussion

I believe that smart phones are a doorway to the future as it has brought the world to your handset. It has taken all the functions of a computer without compromising size in any way which allows users to do almost anything on their smartphones.

Myself being a smartphone user I understand that smartphones will soon be a necessity. The capabilities of smartphones are endless.

THE RISING

Research done by IDC shows that in the past year alone there have been 303.4 million smartphones sold worldwide and it is expected to rise to 450 million this year.

This rise may be due to: 1) Faster access to the internet

2) The operating systems offered

3) Apps available to users

4) Laptop like abilities

USER PRODUCTIVITY

It is believed that productivity in the work place will increase as the increase of smart phone usage increases.

Smart phones increase efficiency by reducing reaction time, and allowing employees to work where ever they may be even after office hours; which will result in costs being cut down for firms as well as money coming in to the firm.

COMMUNICATION

In a workplace communication is one of the major factors that contributes to productivity.

Smart phones have made it possible for offices situated geographically in different areas to communicate as if both were in the same city. With apps such as Watsapp and blackberry messenger it has made it possible for employees and employers to communicate with one another at record time.

SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

The introduction of smart phones has brought the world together with making the world a smaller place. Apps have allowled people across boarders to communicate with very little to no fee charged.

Research shows that there has been a major growth in instant messaging with smart phone users across the globe.

EDUCATION

With most children and students being digital natives it is understandable why some teachers around the globe are suggesting integrating smartphones in the classroom. Studies show that technology can actually enhance children’s intelligence, it allows the student to learn at their own pace as well as open their imagination.

We are transforming from a desktop’s in every class room to students requiring a smartphone to progress in school.

CONCLUSION

I conclude that smartphones are the way forward in all aspects may it be in the workplace or in schools. What makes a smartphone so effective is the limitless abilities it holds .

We also see that the creators of these phones having realised the convenience of smartphone and how they are becoming a necessity. Thus they have began making smartphones that are affordable for most of the population.

We shall see in the near future were typical mobile phones will be something of the past.
