• Both #TeamUSA and #TeamCanada increased in volume on Wednesday, likely due to the Thursday start of the men’s hockey event. “Hockey” appeared in 10% of all mentions of #TeamUSA.

Most Popular Sports & Events• Although curling still dominated conversation, hockey

blasted its way near the top with 52,870 mentions. With the women’s hockey tournament heating up and the men’s event about to start, it’s safe to assume that conversation around the game will continue to increase.

• Women’s halfpipe generated enough buzz to keep the sport in the top five with 28,670 mentions. With most conversation coming from the United States, it’s not surprising to see events Team USA wins being heavily discussed -- especially with the women seeing such success compared to the disappointing results for the US men’s team.

• Conversation around luge dropped by about 2,000 posts, but maintained its fifth place in most-discussed sports as Germany continued its dominance in Sochi with Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt winning doubles gold.
