Today we continue our sermon series, Sent by the Savior. Following the resurrection of Jesus, the Lord Jesus said to His disciples, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I

also send you” (John 20:21). Jesus was sent into this world to show humanity what God is really like, and to call people to repentance and faith. Likewise, we have been given that same mis-sion; to engage the world in which we live and point people to the One who forgives, heals, and restores.

Our passage today is from 1 Peter 3:13-17. The Apostle Peter wrote to Christians who were suffering because of their faith in Christ, and because the Christian lifestyle was contrary to the culture of the day. This suffering included insults, slanderous accusations, beatings, and social ostracism. To this, Peter encouraged these suffering Christians to, “be prepared to make a de-fense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

Do you agree or disagree?
