Mr. George Mackie IFS Freight Forwarding 8471 S. Eastern Avenue Chicago, IL 60647 Dear Mr. Mackie:

We have just received a complaint about a mishandled delivery from one of our trusted customers. Mr. C. Benson of Butterfly Beauty Care in Dubuque, Iowa. Apparently. a member of your staff delivered two cartons of goods to the Butterfly Beauty Cure facility despite the fact that the items they contained had been damaged in transit. Enclosed, you will find a copy of the transmittal form signed by Mr. Benson, on which he clearly indicated that he noticed Use damage while your driver was still on the premises.

Mr. Benson reports that the driver refused to lake the goods back, contrary to your company's stated policy. Furthermore, the driver indicated that our packing was responsible roe the breakage. We can assure you that these boxes were packed with the usual care, and left our warehouse in perfect condition. We can only conclude that they were damaged during shipment.

We expect you to pick up the hoses immediately at absolutely no cost to Mr. Benson or Smooth Skin. We are far from satisfied with the actions of your employee, and in view of the fact that this is the third complaint we have received in six mouths, my further incidents of this nature will force us to reconsider the renewal of our contract with your firm.

To: "The Shoe People" <[email protected]> Cc: From: "John Trimbald" <[email protected]> Subject: Customer Complaint To Whom it May Concern,

I have trusted the Shoe People to protect the feet of my employees for over ten years now. I recently purchased a few pairs of boots from your company for my crew. Though my men were initially satisfied with the boots, the soles began to fall apart on them after just twelve weeks. This was extremely surprising considering they came with a six year warranty. The boots are unsafe to wear because my men are pouring hot concrete. Please respond as soon as possible with instructions on how I can return the boots and receive a refund.

Thank you,

John Trimbald

Thank you for your e-mail concerning the poor quality of our rubber soled black work boots. A representative will be by your office next week to pick up the damaged boots. Along with five new pairs of workboots for your crew (we included one extra pair), we have enclosed a free year's supply of sole protector spray. In our retail stores, this spray is always recommended to buyers who work on heated floors. This should have been brought to your attention at the time of your initial order (received by telephone on October 12, 2007). Please excuse our oversight. To date we have had no complaints about these workboots from customers who have used the protector spray. However, should you use the spray and find that you are still unsatisfied with the boots, please return the boots and spray for a full refund. Thank you for supporting The Shoe People. To Mrs. Saville, England

July 7th 1816

My dear Sister, I write a few lines to say that I am safe and well advanced on

my voyage to North Pole. Unfortunately, last Monday our situation was a bit

dangerous since the boat gets stuck in ice hundreds of miles from land. We were

waiting and hoping the weather would soon change and we could be able to sail

again.

My despair was interrupted by the sight of a sledge which was drawn by

dogs. As the mist cleared away we could see that there was a man in the sledge. The

sailors took him on the ship. He was a European and spoke fluent English. My dear

Margaret! How poor he was! We made him lay in the bed because his legs were

nearly frozen and his body was in terrible condition. He ate a little soup and slept.

Two days passed before he was able to speak and he told me his story.

“My name is Victor Frankenstein, I was born in Geneva to a rich family. My

parents loved each other and we were very happy. I had a younger brother his

name was William. My mother always wanted to have a daughter so she adopted a

little girl. Her name was Elizabeth and she was like a little angel.

Page 14: SOAL-SOAL LATIHAN SEMESTER BAHASA INGGRIS Soal PAS 2016... · SOAL-SOAL LATIHAN SEMESTER BAHASA INGGRIS Time Allocation : 120 minutes MEMORANDUM TO: All Office Employees FROM: Ruth

14

I was very interested in science so my father sent me to university to study

natural philosophy and chemistry. At the university I met Henry Clerval, he become

my best friend. We could study together and discuss interesting things.

I wanted to know what the secret of life is so I started a project to make a

human creature from body parts. I was experimenting at my apartment and one

stormy night I was able to bring my creation to life. It was the horrible monster! I

was so scared so I ran away, when I got back the monster was gone.

After a month a letter from home came. My brother, William, is murdered. I

was so scared that I hurried home. My family servant, Justine, is accused of killing

him. I was sure the monster killed my brother!

I hope I could find a peace in the mountains, Swiss Alps. Once when I was

walking in the hill I met the monster. He told me his story

When I fled, the monster found himself alone and hideous. No one accepted

him, except for one old blind man. The monster hoped that the blind man's family of

cottagers would give him compassion, but even they drove him away. When he ran

across William, he killed the boy out of revenge. The monster begged me to make a

companion for him. I went to England with Henry in Scotland and tried to make a

female companion for the monster. But before I finished, I was so scared, that the

second monster will also bring destruction to humanity than love that I destroy it.

The monster saw it and swore revenge on my wedding night. When Victor

landed on a shore among Irish people, they accused him of murdering Henry, who

had been found dead. He's acquitted, but not before another long illness.

Victor returned to Geneva and prepared to marry Elizabeth, but he's a little

worried: the monster had sworn to be with him on his wedding night. Victor

thought the monster was threatening him, but the night he and Elizabeth were

married, the monster killed the bride instead. This causes Victor's father to pass

away from grief.

Alone and bent on revenge, Victor chased the monster over all imaginable

terrain until he was ragged and near death. “

Soon, I discover the monster crying over Victor's dead body. He's crying

because he's sad and he has nothing to live for anymore. The monster headed off

into the Arctic to die. Alone.

Love,

Captain Walton
