SRI SAHASRA CHANDI YAGAM – 19TH TO 29TH JULY 2007 CHANDI HOMA

This is a more elaborate yaga, that is understood to have powerful effects of the planets on the cosmic, global and individual levels. It is traditionally performed to alleviate the adverse effects of planets, liberate man from all troubles, restore friendship, to overpower enemies and evil planetary influences.

The worship of the Mother Goddess is not to be considered mere ‘Tantric’ or

‘Pouranika’. It is as old as ‘Rigveda’. The tenth Mandala of Rigveda refers to ‘Devi Sukta’ and ‘Raathri Sukta’, confirming the importance of the worship.

The ‘Devi Mahatme’ is the part of Markandeya Purana, which includes 700

stanzas. These stanzas are distributed into 13 Chapters and they include in three Sections. The first Section (Prathama Charita) includes the first Chapter named after’Mahakali’. Second Section (Dritheeya Charita) includes Second, third and fourth Chapters named after’Mahalakshmi and the third Section(Thrutheeya Charita) includes the remaining nine Chapters named after ‘Maha Saraswathi’.

The ‘Sahasra Chandi yaga’ includes 1000 Parayanas, (i.e. the recitation of all 700

verses of Durga Saptashathi, a collection of beautiful hymns to Mother Divine) and 100 Chandi Homas.

The most significant Chapter is the 11th Chapter, where the Devas express their

gratitude to the Mother Divine for having suppressed the ‘aswas’. ‘Narayani Namosthuthe’ is the akrithi of this Prayer. It almost resembles the Bhagavadgita, where Lord Krishna appeared before Arjuna and offered him the ‘Vishwa Roopa Darshana’

Again each Chandi Homa includes the worship of nine ‘Kanyas’ and three

‘Suvasinis’. Thus the Sahasra Chandi yaga includes 900 Kanya pooja and 300 Suvasini poojas.Though the Saptashathi Procedure is described in many texts, the most popular text is ‘Katyayani Tantram’.

The Chandi Saptashathi which is also known as ‘Durga Saptashathi and

Devimahatmyam consists of Procedures like Pooja, Parayana and Homa.

Sri Sahasra Chandi yagam was conducted at Sri Naryani Peedam, Thirumalaikodi from 19.07.2007 to 29.07.2007. Sivacharyas under the guidance of Prof.B.S.Nanjunda Dixit from Bangalore conducted yaga, parayana and poojas on all the 11 days.

Thousands of devotees of Sri Sakthi Amma took part in the yaga went home filled with Divine blessings. The Sahasra Chandi yaga was completed with ‘Poornahodhy’ Hepatitis ‘B’ vaccination Mobile camp Date : 21.07.2007 Place: Thiruvaluvar Nagar to Narasinga puram Prevention is better than cure. Vaccinations prevent certain diseases. We pay more attention to this aspect and our ANM goes from place to place under our immunization programme. On 21.07.2007 our ANM started the Hepatitis ‘B’ vaccination programme from Thiruvalluvar Nagar to Narasingapuram covering a distance of 7 Kilometers giving the vaccination to as many as 83 persons.

This programme is welcomed by most of the rural population since they need not travel up to the hospital to get this vaccination instead the medical person goes to their door steps.

He also felt the divinity of Sri Sakthi Amma in the hospital itself before actually seeing Amma. He felt fascinated to see the gigantic Golden Temple and had all praise for Amma in carrying out services to humanity which amounts to more than double times of Government schemes. He wished Amma long life to continue to serve the poor and needy. The Assistant Director General of Police, Mr.K.V.S.Moorthi also participated in the function and felt fortunate enough to be present in the Peedam on an auspicious day like that day.

Amma’s Discourse on Pournami (29.07.07)

This Pournami is special. This Pournami is called Guru Pournami or Guru Poornima. In Hindu Dharma and in many other religions, only on this day many saints and god men have taken their Avatar. That is why we call this as Guru Pournami, the Pournami which brings the total blessings of Guru. What Amma is going to tell you on this special day is: Be happy. You may ask how is it possible to be happy amidst all our problems and difficulties. The answer is Amma is with you. For example if you ask some one why he/she has taken part in this Yagam; one will say for the prosperity of my business. Another one will say for the well being of his/her children. Some one will say for a good health. Yet another one will say I should not get more scolding from my wife. Every body has some reason or the other for taking part in a pooja or taking part in a Yagam or conducting a Yagam. For you every one has some reason.

But why Amma is doing all these poojas and Yagams? For whom? Amma does not have problems that you have. Amma is doing all these poojas and Yagams for you all. The happenings and deeds starting from morning to night here are all for you. That is why I told you,” Be happy; don’t worry; Amma will take care of every thing.” Every one has to attain the status of Guru. That is a great blessing. Guru is the incarnation of God head itself descending on to earth for removing all sufferings of mankind and for giving happiness and wisdom. So, on obtaining a Guru there is no necessity for searching for God. Having a Guru is a big strength. It’s like having an advocate. In the court of fate, Guru is like an advocate in front of Navagraha, the judge. Fate of Karma is the reason for all the sufferings I a man’s life. The sin which committed in the previous births follow

him birth after birth through sufferings. The power which can safe guard mankind from fate lies only with Guru. If the fate is to suffer for 10 days, with the blessings of Guru it will be reduced to 3 days. That power lies only with Guru. It is essential to have a Guru in every one’s life. Every thing is set for the benefit of mankind in person of Guru. So, on this auspicious day accept Amma as your Guru and be happy.

I bless that all the life beings on this universe be happy, peaceful and graceful.
