Series 100: Residential Roof Mount
Integrated Grounding – UL 2703
A Fully Certified System - The entire system is electrically bonded together.
Overall Reduction in Material Costs No Weebs
No Bonding Jumpers
50% Less Ground Lugs
Reduction in Copper Grounding Wire
Dramatic Reduction in Labor 1 man hour / kW savings or more
Quality & Safety - SnapNrack installations using our UL product ensures that every metallic component on the system is bonded to ground the system.
Integrated Grounding and Bonding
Marking/Labeling Practices
UL 2703 requires smallest unit packaging to
bear UL Listed label:
•Keep packaging onsite of inspection
Ground lugs require UL “GR” stamp
•If installed ground lug is not accessible, have
additional ground lug to display at inspection
Installation Manual required to bear the UL
Listed label:
•Keep the Install Manual on site to confirm
compliance with mfr requirements during
inspection
Series 100: Residential Roof Mount
In addition to grounding and bonding, Series 100 UL, is Class A Fire Rated when installed with Type 1 and Type 2 Modules.
This ensures that the system meets the requirements of the California building codes set by local jurisdictions and the 2012 International Building Codes which will become mandatory on January 1, 2015.
Overview • The 2012 IBC has new requirements that when a PV system is
mounted on top of a roof, the modules, mounting system and the
roof are considered a system. This system needs to be
certified to meet certain fire rating standards.
• Historically, in a ‘High Severity Fire zone’ the roof would need to
be Class A rated, however you were allowed to install Class C rated
solar modules on top.
• Moving forward, the modules and mounting system, together, need to
meet the fire classification requirements as well.
• California adopted the 2012 IBC requirements in January of
2014, delayed UL 1703 adoption
• In recognition that there were no industry solutions currently
available, California’s State Fire Marshall has published a letter,
asking that AHJ’s give a sixth month window before enforcing these
requirements
• As of 1/1/15, CA AHJs are widely enforcing Fire Classification for
PV systems
• Both mounting system manufacturers and module manufacturers
need to have their products tested and certified.
• Mounting systems manufacturers need to have their system certified
with certain ‘types’ of modules, where the ‘type’ is defined by
construction and performance in testing.
• Module manufacturers need to have their modules tested to the new
UL 1703 standards to determine the type.
