SMU LETTERMEN’S ASSOCIATION

The SMU Lettermen’s Association is comprised of SMU ALUMNI WHO HAVE LETTERED IN A SPORT while at SMU. Formed more than a half century ago, the Lettermen’s Association seeks to LINK FORMER LETTER WINNERS WITH ONE ANOTHER and the University community today.

GOALS AND PURPOSEG To maintain the traditions of SMU AthleticsG To sponsor special events allowing teammates and friends the

opportunity to rekindle old friendships and build new onesG To provide a network of professional and personal contacts for the

benefits of membersG To provide a direct link between the SMU Lettermen’s Association

AWARDSSMU ATHLETICS HALL OF FAMEThe SMU Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony is held annually in the spring. Hall of Fame inductees represent the best of SMU Athletics and must have gained national prominence and success as a coach, administrator, or athlete to be selected for this honor.

SILVER ANNIVERSARY MUSTANG AWARD (“SAM”)The SAM Award is given annually to a former letterwinner who has not been a student at SMU for 25 or more years. Recipients are those who have brought honor to SMU, made contributions that have lasting and positive effects on their fellow citizens and have been model citizens in their communities. This award is presented annually at a Men’s Basketball game.

HONORARY LETTER AWARDThe Honorary Letter Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service and leadership over a significant period of time toward the enhancement of SMU intercollegiate sports programs and loyalty toward the University as a whole. This award is presented at the Lettermen’s Annual Reunion.
