Introduction

SMS/800 Services are provided to both Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) and Service Control

Point (SCP) Owner/Operators (0/0s). Resp Orgs are organizations that use the SMS/800 to perform

functions by electronically completing forms displayed on terminals at their locations. A service

provider may do this directly or arrange to have it done by another company. It usually takes just a

few minutes to enter call-processing information for a given Toll Free number. SCPs are real-time

database systems in the networks of the Local Exchange Companies (LECs) that contain instructions

for routing calls. Services provided include instructions as to how subscribers wish their Toll Free

numbers to be routed and terminated by location or choosing multiple carriers for different time

periods.

SMS/800 System and Screen Requirements for NPA 844 Support

July 16,2012

1. Introduction

This Requirements (REO) document defines the "System Requirements" (including functionality requirements) of the new SMS/800 enhancement known as "SMS/800 Support for NPA 844".

SMS/800, Inc.'s representative, SMS/800 Software Support (system engineers, developers and testers), SMS/800 Help Desk, SMS/800 Data Center and SMS/800 Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs).

Project "SMS/800 Support for NPA 844" has the goal of making it possible for Responsible Organizations of Toll Free numbers (commonly spelled as "Toll Free numbers" and abbreviated as "Dial#") to reserve Toll Free numbers in the 844 Numbering Plan Area (NPA) code and create Customer Records (CRs) for Toll Free numbers in the 844 NPA.

For information regarding planned code opening of NPA 844, please contact the SMS/800 Business Manager.

For information regarding Service Control Points (SCP) support of or planned support of NPA 844, please contact the SCP owner/operators.

2. General Information

uct

The SMS/800 NPA 844 Support is an "Enhancement" to SMS/800. This Enhancement is to be developed in response to the customer's request for SMS/800 to support Toll Free numbers (known industry wide as "Toll Free numbers") and Customer Records (CRs) in NPA 844.

ue

The SMS/800 NPA 844 Support enhancement provides the customer and industry assurance that SMS/800 will have a pool of available Toll Free numbers that supports industry demand.

This enhancement doesn't impact SMS/800 security because access to the SMS/800 database (including data records in any supported NPA) will follow the security process that is already in place for all the supported NPAs.

• It is assumed that all Toll Free Network Service Providers and Service Control Points (SCPs) will support NPA 844 when 844 is "open" in the production environment and delta test environment.

• It is assumed that before NPA 844 code is opened by the FCC for reservation and use by Resp Orgs, the SMS/800 Data Center will have sufficient data space setup for the SMS/844 database and tables in the production environment.

.. It is assumed that the SMS/800 Billing System will support billing Resp Orgs that control Toll Free numbers in NPA 844 when 844 is "open" in SMS/800.

" MGI Specification (SR-4592) is not impacted.

.. SCP Interface Specification (TM-STS-000798) is not impacted.

.. CR Batch Update interface (SR-5120) is not impacted.

.. The SMS/800 Billing Interface is not impacted.

7

• SMS/800 Web-based Reporting System (WRS) (i.e., the Business Objects based reporting application) is not impacted.

3. Processing/Flows

Refer to section 5 for detailed processing flows.

c Currently, Resp Orgs have the capability to search and reserve and create/update Customer Records (CRs) and perform other Toll Free related functions for Toll Free numbers in NPAs 800, 888, 877, 866 and 855 via the following interfaces: Web Based Access (WBA), 3270 user interface and Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI).

re

When the SMS/800 NPA 844 Support enhancement becomes generally available (GA) and the industry opens 844 to Resp Orgs, Resp Orgs will have the ability to search and reserve and create/update Customer Records (CRs) and perform other Toll Free related functions for Toll Free numbers in NPAs 844, 800, 888, 877, 866 and 855 via the following interfaces: Web Based Access (WBA), 3270 user interface and Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI).

4. Requirements

(800-844-R.01) SMS/800, including the SMS/800 database, will have the capability to support Toll Free Number Plan Area (NPA) code 844.

Design Notes: Database Definitions (DBDs) will support SMS/800 data in Toll Free code 844. Program Specification Blocks (PSBs) will support SMS/800 data in Toll Free code 844.

(800-844-R.02) All the SMS/800 batch jobs that are run by Toll Free NPA or Toll Free NPANXX will support 844.

(800-844-R.03) SMS/800 will have the capability to allow authorized system administrators (i.e., SMS/800 Software Support) to 'open' Toll Free NPA 844.

(800-844-R.04) SMS/800-SCP interface will support NPA 844.

(800-844-R.OS) SMS/800 Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI) will support NPA 844.

Note- The SMS/800 MGI Specification (SR-4592) is not impacted by the 844 enhancement because SR-4592 does not contain NPA-specific requirements.

8

July 16,2012

(800-844-R.OS) SMS/800 3270 interface will support NPA 844.

(800-844-R.07) SMS/800 Web Based Access (WBA) will support NPA 844.

(800-844-R.08) SMS/800 Reports History Database (RHDB) will support storing data that is in NPA 844.

(800-844-R.09) Automation interface will support NPA 844.

(800-844-R.10) SMS/800 Customer Record (CR) Batch Update interface will support NPA 844.

(800-844-R.11) The Billing interface between SMS/800 - SMS/800 Billing System will support NPA 844.

Number Allocation Feature Changes:

(800-844-R.12) The SMS/800 System will have the capability to turn 'on' Number Allocation for either 844-only or all NPAs when Number Allocation is set to "Manual Override" mode via the Reservation Allocation Control (RMS) screen.

(800-844-R.13) The Reservation Allocation ("WRA") screen will support Number Allocation run at any interval. WRA will support daily rationing or weekly rationing of number reservations in NPA 844.

Note: See section 5 for related changes to the WRA screen.

5. User Interface Requirements

Screen layouts described in this document are only illustrative. Specifics of screens and error messages will be determined during the detailed software design/coding and multi-unit testing phases. Final screen layouts will be documented in the final User Guide(s).

Note: Throughout this document, the term "you" refers to a Resp Org user.

The WRA screen will be edited in order to support new requirement 800-844-R.13. The modified WRA screen is shown below.
