The Smile Secret Sound is Smile 90.4FM’s signature station feature. It runs on Smile Breakfast from Monday to Friday, twice every morning, giving listeners the opportunity to win a life-changing amount of money and delivering a riveting listening experience.

Every morning at 07:20 and 08:20 it’s time to play Smile Secret Sound on Smile Breakfast. In each playing moment, Bobby and Lindy take three calls from the thousands of hopeful players trying to get through. Each caller gets a chance to listen to the Smile Secret Sound and is then allowed one guess to identify what it is. But, as Bobby and Lindy do not know the answer themselves, ‘The

Referee’, who is always present and the only person who knows the answer, will signal to them after each guess whether the answer is correct or incorrect. A complete list of all the guesses are updated on the

Smile 90.4FM website every day in order for contestants to see what’s been guessed before, so that they don’t waste their guesses when getting through.

The Honest Truth with Benito Vergotine

Recently well respected radio personality Benito Vergotine kicked off his brand new matter-of-fact, two-hour long show running between 8pm and 10pm, Monday to Thursday evenings. Benito is ably supported by top flight radio producer Christine Wessels.

Radio’s potential to mould perception

remains one of its most provocative aspects. As a radio brand committed to being a positive factor in the lives of our listeners, the Smile 90.4FM product is built on values of positivity, compassion and authenticity. This includes amplifying the good news in the Mother City.

Acknowledging that volatile and

challenging topics cannot be avoided, we created ‘The Honest Truth’ as a counter balance to our wholly positive workday programming. We believe that we are serving our listeners best by dealing with uncomfortable and controversial issues at night when we have enough time to properly contextualise and engage in thorough discussion.

Show Anchor, Benito Vergotine: “I have always romanticised about being a talk show host and have often marvelled at the artistry great talk show anchors have to draw the listener into the conversation. I hope to follow in that tradition whilst looking into the many facets of the complex world we live and engage in.”

Be sure to tune in between 8pm and 10pm Monday to Thursday evenings for ‘The Honest Truth’.

Presenter Profile – Bailey Schneider

Bailey is one of the few radio presenters to have broadcast on almost every medium of radio: Campus, Retail, Festival, Commercial and Digital Radio.

Her radio career began at the tender age of 17 at Rau, where she obtained her BA Journalism degree, when she joined RAU Radio (now known as UJ FM) and then went on to broadcast at Edgars Music Radio.

In 2004 Bailey started training at 94.7 Highveld Stereo. She worked her way through late-night shows until she joined the Afternoon Drive show with Alex Jay and 3 years later, Mark Pilgrim. Bailey spent 8 years on the Drive show with 94.7 Highveld Stereo before she was approached by 2Oceansvibe Radio (2OV) – SA’s biggest digital radio station. Bailey headed up the Johannesburg office for 2OV, until she moved to Cape Town

where she hosted The Bailey Schneider Show for 3 years.

In 2015 Bailey joined Smile 90.4FM. Bailey co-presents Smile Drive, with Maurice Carpede, weekdays from 3pm to 6pm, with features Going Green, Clash of the Chromosomes, Smile Joke Jar and Bailey’s Brain Basher.

Outside of radio, Bailey has a popular award winning lifestyle blog called Vanilla Blonde, she is guest presenter on the Expresso Morning Show on SABC 3, and is an accomplished Master of Ceremonies and voice artist.

Bailey is no stranger to the limelight; she has won the People Magazine’s Newcomer of the Year Award, placed 5th overall in the Top Billing Presenter Search competition and has been in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World (twice).

The Standard Bank Business Breakfast in Association with Smile 90.4FM

This October saw Smile 90.4FM partnering with South Africa’s largest financial services group to bring The City of Cape Town the Standard Bank Business Breakfast 2017 at the

Cape Town Convention Centre. Key note speakers Anant Singh,

Dion Chang and Nick Mallett kept guests captivated with their stories of inspiration and motivation - challenging attendees to

ask themselves “What’s Your Next?” as well as giving them insight into what their next is.

Anant Singh, a recognised South Africa’s pre-eminent film producer, spoke about his journey and challenges, during the apartheid years, which led him to film and where he is today.

South African trend analyst Dion Chan explained how the job world was changing with the creation of machines and robots. Chan discussed how upskilling and training within all sectors needed to be done in order to stay proactive rather than reactive.

Tri-Nations-winning former Springbok and Italian coach Nick Mallett; discussed the future of South African rugby, how the game of rugby has changed over the years and what potential it holds.
