Systems vs. Tenants

➢ Each individual web address is referred to as a “tenant”. For example,

each customer begins with a test tenant URL and later receives a

production tenant URL.

➢ SAP Hosting has various data centers in which tenants are established

on systems.

➢ By default, a system houses many tenants for multiple customers

(unless a Private Edition subscription is purchased).

➢ When hotfixes and new releases are applied by SAP Hosting, they are

applied to a system.

➢ The maintenance schedule is also defined on a system level.

When implementing in a non SAP delivered country (option 2 and 3) the Customer Specific Localization can be

used (CSL). The intention is to enable an implementation partner (or the IT department of a customer) to extend

and adapt SAP Business ByDesign in such a way that locally compliant operation is possible in a country, even

though an SAP country version is not available.

1. SAP Delivered Countries

These are countries where SAP

provides a country version to support

customers run business with SAP

Business ByDesign according to the

international standards and local

requirements.

2. SAP Pre-localized Countries

These are countries which can be

scoped and in which SAP offers

partial localization features. It is an

enhancement of the tax basic

countries. The content delivered

differs for each country, but it is

mainly in the area of taxes, customer

facing forms and sometimes country

specifics.

3. Tax Basic Countries

Tax Basic Country is a country with

minimum enablement by SAP. Some

basic tax events and tax codes are

made available by SAP. Usually there

are 8 tax events for non-EU and 12

tax events for EU countries to cover

the basic scenarios like domestic

sales and purchases, export and

import, and reverse charge.
