3D AIR AND SURVEILLANCE RADAR• Excellent performance in the littoral environment• High reliability to support long missions• Easy to operate and maintain

SMART-S Mk2 is the naval 3D air and surface surveillance radar operating in E/F-band. The multi-beam concept creates a long time-on-target resulting in excellent performance over the whole coverage. Pulse-Doppler processing enables fast target track initiation and stealth target detection, even in a cluttered environment. The use of solid-state transmitters extends the system reliability and allows for graceful degradation.

Excellent performance The pulse-Doppler processing over the full coverage (range and elevation) of the radar in combination with the multi-beam concept gives excellent performance in the littoral environment. The high average power, due to the high duty cycle achieved by the solid-state transmitters, results in long range performance also against the smallest targets. The system always delivers early warning for high diving targets as in both operational modes the radar has an elevation coverage of 70° in elevation.

High reliabilityThe modern design with a focus on long system lifetime (endurance) and the use of solid-state technology results in a high system operational availability. This supports long missions without extensive maintenance onboard the ship.

Easy to operate and maintain The radar has only two main operational modes and will automatically start to deliver target tracks when switched on. The number of operational system settings is minimal and therefore very easy to operate. The system design is according to the repair-by-replacement philosophy and the system consists of line-replaceable-units (LRUs) that are easy to exchange. This minimizes the repair times and does not require a high maintainer skill level.

Main Features• Multi-beam with full Doppler processing within each beam• Dedicated Doppler channel for surface targets• Fully automatic detection and tracking of air and surface targets• Dedicated ECCM techniques• Multipath suppression using beams under the horizon• Graceful degradation due to multiple solid-state transmitters
